Space ship design, are they going too far ?
New images of proposed designs of the latest C-8 designs make me wonder if we are getting so close to European look alikes the American Corvette is losing its identity. If I wanted a swoop Lamb or F-40 with the spaghetti styling I would be shopping the used market for one. They seem to stick to the same theme of wedge shape with additional scoops and sharp body lines. Maybe some of us old school see the Corvette as an endless 60s design, changing slightly, but clearly recognizable to all generations. I understand the need for wind tunnel plus dynamics but being folded twice to enter the control room is not that pleasing to buyers that can afford the values.

Looks like a possibility for a C9, or, C10.

Don't panic.
That design was created for one purpose, and one purpose only:
To sell magazines.

It is not a convertible! Another minus; visibility is zero looking aft. When you drive an old car first thing you notice is: I have 360 degree vision. With all the safety items the government is mandating, I am surprised that being able to see out isn't one of them. I just bent up the rear bumper of my 2016 Colorado, backed into a Ford pickup because I couldn't see what was directly behind me. The camera view indicated a clear path, just clipped the other trucks bumper. I was backing a 2 mph yet the damage of both vehicles exceeded $3,500 dollars. The C7 Corvette has a better view aft and you can't see much either.

Looks good to me, BUT I want a convertible.

In reality the production C8 will likely look very different from this "proposed" car.
We will see dozens more of these "proposed designs" in the upcoming years.

Gorgeous is gorgeous- who cares if it is American or European if the price is right. Bring on those spaceship designs as far as I am concerned.

Out of all the renditions I've seen, this one is the best-looks good and looks expensive!

You are either to old or haven't been around enough.

Each generation of the Corvette's styling was done to maintain the "Corvette" styling. GM wanted each generation to be easily identified as a Corvette. When the C6 was introduced, GM said in an interview that the C6 was designed on carry the Corvette styling so it was easily identified as a Corvette. For the C7, GM changed that, and deliberately made styling changes to move the C7 away from the traditional Corvette styling, thinking that that would improve sales in Europe and to a younger market.
Who knows if they still feel that way. Sales of the C7 overseas is dismal and sales of the C7 have been falling in the US and Canada.
I wonder how much of a shift in ages downward of those who bought new C7's?

That does not remotely look like a Corvette. It's just somebody's idea of a futuristic sports car. As for the comments on vision, no worries. All your mirrors are going away in favor of cameras anyway.

Looks good!
I like the chiseled, knife edge body design as opposed to the rounded, hard boiled egg out of the shell design.

It could also be that the wedge shape is aerodynamically superior to all others. That's the objective truth that will result in most performance cars going in that direction regardless of subjective styling preferences.

Does this look like a "wedge"?
The 2018 Mercedes S class coupe has a Cd of .24, compared to the base C5 and the base C6 with a .29 Cd(that is lower than the base C7's Cd).
Or this Audi a6 with a .26 Cd.
But you just have to love the Mercedes b class with it's .26 Cd.
Oh, and the "wedge" shaped Ferrari 458, it had a .33 Cd.

Wow never would have guessed
Remember when the 3rd? Gen firebird was deemed more aeordynamic than the vette wasnt that why Lingenfelter started building them?
Guess the shape thing depends on what one grew up around, think all this futuistic bloated look alike trend looks like dogchit & they can keep all the electronics, too;I dont care if they run 9s and give you a massage while it happens
Younger crowd seem to eat it up the styling trends gadgets and (ugh black wheels), so GM is gonna make what sells.
Someone put up a rendering of a C8 with lots of C3 shape it was badazz.
