Key words in this article: ". . . if the reports on Automobile are to be believed".
Remember those "reports" and "renderings" have the same purpose now as they did ten - or twenty - or forty years ago. They are meant to sell magazines, nothing more. If we all had a dollar for each auto magazine article over the decades asking "IS THIS THE NEXT CORVETTE?" (and the answer is always "No"), we could each afford one of the new cars whenever they come out.

They are just spreading the same false rumors that other rags have spread before them. No new news, just regurgitation of old rumors.

According to this latest article, GM will launch both the ZR1 and the ME car at the same time. That is highly unlikely. GM wants to maximize the profit from each of these vehicles, therefore only one will be launched at a time.
If we were to believe the publications, the ME car was launched in 2016. When that didn't happen, it was to be launched in 2017. Well, we're passed the time when the 2017 launch was supposed to occur, so now it's on to 2018. When the car is finally launched, many of these mags will selectively remember the one article the published that got it right, forget how many times they got it wrong, and thump their chest bragging how they saw it coming.
