Don't like removable tops (actually it's a deal breaker for me). The potential squeaks will drive me to the looney bin. Either make it fixed or make it convertible.

First year convertible availability or not has gone both ways in various Corvette gens. It was not available in the intro year of the C6, but obviously was in the C7.
As for mid-engine or not, I don't really care, as long as I like the car. Moreover, mid-engine is not synonymous with supercar expensive, as the Toyota MR1 and Pontiac Fiero aptly illustrated.

Change in evolution and or revolutionary design is a fact of life. Success comes from improvement.
The rear mid engine in a corvette design will be amazing.
Just my opinion and without question convertibles will be part of the corvette design in the future without question.
I believe the c5 vert came one year after the 1997 c5 coupe as a 1998 and the world that did not collapse.
Keep the faith guys.
Each new generation corvette is even better tha. The a,axing predessor.

Only one generation out of the seven did not have a convertible model during the first year of each generation.
Personally I don't like Convertibles since I had one in 1962(1957 Ford). Since then, the only other convertible I've owned is the 1956 Corvette I own. All others have been coupes. BUT, my 1956 has the hardtop option and that is all I ever use.
Don't care for targa tops either. Had then on my 1969, that was only off the car 1% of the time, (my wife liked them), my 1983 Z28 that were off 1% of the time(wife liked them), my 1998 C5(never off as my wife was long gone). One of the reasons I selected my C6 Z06 was because it had a fixed roof(10 bolts hold in on).

If you look at the first picture in the first post of the above thread, you will see what looks like a yellow, mid-engine convertible Corvette prototype, unless I am mistaken.

Why would there not be a convertible option on the next corvette? Am I missing anything? Or are we saying this because we’re are assuming the next corvette will be mid engine and you can’t have a power top with a mid engine car?

I will be out unless there's a convertible option. Even if it's an upgraded C7. For my driving mid engine is a bit of a waste.

I would love to have $1 for every member of this forum who wrote in 2011/2012 that they were not interested in a C7, will definitely not get one, and then especially after its reveal, because of its atrocious tailights, yada, yada, and yet how many are now posting in the C7 sections here.
Same with Corvette club members who laughed at my C5 (1st one in our large Corvette club), calling it “big butt,” but two years later the majority of our club owned a C5. Then the same about not getting a C6 because of its headlights (whatever).
I want just $1 from every one who is now saying or posting that they will not get the mid-engined C8 (for whatever reason), that eventually owns one, for I could buy a C9 with all those $1 bills.

I am one of those that promised my wife I would not trade the Z06 I bought in July for a C8. My loophole is I never mentioned the CTZ V or the GMC Denali pickup .............. Watch for my obituary sometime after deliveries start next year.

Blame it on old age or even early onset senile...look at her square in the eyes and with the most serious face possible, say "who are you and what have you done with my horse."

Play dumb, play dead...if all else fails, just deny, deny, deny that you ever had such a conversation.

You can absolutely count on a vert. version.
GM won't make the same mistake Dodge did with their final generation Viper.

Convertibles are not for everybody. That is why GM gives us a choice.
