Topless No More
We will buy a mid engine Corvette. The question, sooner or later? Sooner, convertibles will likely not be a option. Perhaps a removable roof, but a true soft top will be year two. Or never. It will be our second Vette without a real trunk. The C3 being the first. And it was an awful car. Awfully slow and awfully built.

I'm relatively confident that there will be a convertible in the next gen, but if not, the C7 will be my last Corvette. Removable tops are not an acceptable option for me . . . had them, hated them, left the tops on, sold them, and purchased proper convertibles.

Has to be a Convertible for me. Had a 2008 Coupe and in no way does it compare to my 2015 Convertible.
I am pretty confident the next generation Corvette will offer a Convertible.

First of all there is no confirmation that the C8 will be mid-engine vehicle, but if it is what makes you think it will not have a convertible option? There are mid engine convertible sports cars for sale right now.
People are blowing the mid-engine rumors way out of proportion.

I'm not blowing up anything. I want it to be mid engine. My last hurrah.

If the C8 is missing the vert option, I would most likely not get one, if it is missing a stick, I definitely would not get one.
My guess is it will have both.

I am also not following the logic that because the C8 MIGHT be mid engine that a convertible would be delayed or perhaps never offered.
Could there be a "supercar" Corvette that is mid engine and coupe only (Ford GT equivalent for Chevy)? Yes, I think that is possible, but that vehicle will likely be independent of the C8.

Not interested in a mid-engine regardless.
Ditto the stick and convertible.

First year convertible availability or not has gone both ways in various Corvette gens. It was not available in the intro year of the C6, but obviously was in the C7.
As for mid-engine or not, I don't really care, as long as I like the car. Moreover, mid-engine is not synonymous with supercar expensive, as the Toyota MR1 and Pontiac Fiero aptly illustrated.

I would love for a mid engine too. Most of the mid engine cars I have driven have been amazingly fun. I just hope the V8 will still be an option... Along with manual tranny.

Well, if the top don't drop GM will loss me also. I really don't see them going away anytime soon though.

I'm confused by the original post. Weird thoughts stated as facts. No confirmation of a C8 at this time, yet we already know it's a mid engine without a convertible option? OK

Roof off a must for me...targa or vert...I don't care which although I prefer targa...
As far as rear mid engine?
That will make many of us sportscar enthusiasts open our wallets where a more subtle evolution of a front mid engine sports car might not get us to open our wallets...
Just my opinion but for some reason....I believe this need for a dramatic change from front mid engine to increase consumer demand..
I believe the driving experience will be dramatically different going from front mid engine to rear mid engine.
Track times probably won't be dramatically improved but the driving experience will be dramatically different.....
Porsches turn in on the little Boxster s is kind of cool...and the Boxster isn't really a track monster....rear mid engine can make for an entertaining driving experience below track speeds more so than a front mid engine vehicle..
Time for GM to tap into that driving experience for corvette

JerriVette,
At $70K, I feel I'm already opening my wallet as far as I want to for any car, regardless. Front or rear control.

I preferred driving the Caprice, but my wife loved the Beatle.
But for fun, I loved my 1964 Malibu SS with it's 427, TH400, 4.56 gears that I also had in 1968. My wife hated that car.
