the big question IS::: Of all the car makers that test new models in Camo, how long do they take to hit the streets. When they are at the point of Rolling around getting spotted everywhere and they are given permission to take 2 to Micky D's.. Is my thinking orders opening of july/Aug ish 2018 to quick? I see the post of people proud to get a vett now.. but to me thats crazy with whats around the corner.

The C7 will continue unchanged for 2019, but the fact that they are starting production in January may be an indication that something else coming....and it ain't that far away.

That's what I'm seeing. I would venture to say the picture of the car in the drive through is the Caddy. Wouldn't that be a kick in the *** if the Caddy looked better than the Vette? At least then people would have a reason to bitch about something.

Maybe the trip to mcdonalds in the mid engine corvette was ordered by GM....
Usually car manufactures supply the magazines with the spy photos ....
Many people believe it is a planned and staged release of information and pictures..

It's all a conspiracy, they are working with McDonalds to sell mcnuggets and Corvettes. Thank god for targa tops or many of you wouldn't be able to drive with your tin foil hats on.

if you compare these 2 pictures, you might get an approximation of what the real car could look like. aside from the hips of the yellow car, the proportions of the 2 are very similar.

i will be ecstatic if the new car is this good looking.

IMO not even close except in proportions.

I think GM wants you to make that conclusion. At least I hope that is the case. I believe we will be surprised by the ME's exterior design and although it will easily be identified as a Corvette, it will set a new standard moving forward. The interior as well.

It won't look like a C7...it doesn't make sense from a marketing POV.

The more I look at the first mid-engine pics and the McDonalds pics, I don't think they're the same car with more/less cladding. The McDonalds car's windshield seems to have more rake than the first car. Or am I seeing things?

Pretty much the norm for this website. I've never seen as much negativity, pessimism, hostility, and self-righteous BS on any other car forum. Truly like a bunch elementary schoolers.
If anybody at GM even pays attention to what goes on here, they must be busting a gut at this dysfunctional microcosm of the car world.

I was at a cars and coffee this Sunday at a multi brand dealership and the blac mclaren Spyder reminded me so of what I am expecting from the upcoming rear mid engine corvette.
American reliability and cost as well as blistering track performance..
Has me looking on this forum more than ever to get a more indepth look at the upcoming rear mid engine corvette....
At first mention of the rear mid engine car I was like ....no I want the functionality of my present front engine corvette...but as time has crept along and after seeing the black on black mclaren that was so bad @ss...
I'm excited about rolling in hopefully a 500 up LT1 for not much more than the present c7 z51....

I just can't see the mid rear sitting next to a Z06 or ZR1 that will.out perform it.
I really hope GM brings out the Halo Vett that is top of line 1st.
I know that's a break from traditional roll out with base model 1st followed by the big dog a year or two later.
But GM has never tried to sell two genrations as new modela that could be order at the same time.
I will be highly disappointed if the C8 is not the top dog right out of the gate.
I believe for those of us who already have a Z06 to be asked to buy a car that is a step down performance wise is not going to go over well.
But I also believe that the front engine rear drive platform is still going to be available beyond the C7.
There too many Corvette enthusiasts that won't be able to give up the convenience of a front engine GT layout.
I really hope GM does this right. Delivery us a world class rear mid engine that competes with the best Europe has to offer.
I don't want a Corvette with Porsche Cayman level of performance.
It would make for an interesting poll as to what forum members want to see 1st ?
A base model to be sold along side the C7 or a world class super car 1st that is the top of line available Corvette.
Then if GM really intends to kill the front GT layout they can always build a lesser model after the Rear mid has made its mark as world class supercar.

I don't see how GM could bring out the latest and most technological advanced Corvette and have the previous generation have a better performance.

That scenario would be my choice as well, but a top dog ME would pretty much knock the wind out of the introduction of the ZR1. Maybe apples and oranges, though.
