Mid-Engined Chevrolet Corvette Spied Grabbing Food
Chevrolet test drivers are human too and sometimes the call of golden arches is just too strong to resist. That’s where a person named Josh B caught the camouflaged Corvette test mule grabbing a bite, at a McDonalds drive-thru in Cadillac, Michigan.
What we’re seeing could be a near-production prototype of mid-engined Corvette C8. Most of its body remains hidden though the guys at CarScoops were able to make out a “more aerodynamic front fascia with shorter overhangs.”
The rear has undergone some changes as well to produce a lengthened tail, circular taillights, center-mounted third brake light, deep diffuser, and a quad exhaust system. There’s even a set of new lightweight alloy wheels, possibly production-spec, and what seems to be air intake ducts near the door handle.
Though no official confirmation about the next-generation Corvette’s powertrain has been released, previous leaks suggests a 6.2-liter dual-overhead cam V8 engine, which was trademarked as LT5 V8. Rumor has it, the engine could deliver an impressive 750 hp. Also unconfirmed is the possibility of Chevy dropping GM's 10-speed torque converter gearbox for a dual-clutch box produced by Tremec.
