Mid Engine C8 Corvette’s Front & Rear Body Panels Spotted in BG Paint Shop

yeah. The front openings are for the brakes, probably a heat exchanger of some sort(or two), and they may be sending air out of the hood to reduce lift like the 488 or Ford GT(or C7 Corvette). Cooling is another advantage to going mid-engine. Considering how good the Z07 is on track and how much potential a Mid-engine layout has in terms of Cooling, handiling, and accelerating, they can make a mid-engine Vette capable of running on track for twice as long as a C7 and that easily runs with the best.
Now about those panel gaps...

Did anyone else notice the panel to the right of the rear bumper?

Unmodified C8 of the Year 2021 Finalist
2018 C7 of Year Finalist
The rear side openings dumping out the rear facia as shown and could be for both transaxle/transmission radiator cooling along with air diverted for rear brake cooling. Thus eliminating the C7 intakes on the upper rear quarter panels.
In the past GM has done a similar radiator up front ME, need I say what!

I always felt the 458 was just a little to feminine in my opinion. Don't get me wrong still gorgeous but I like the more muscular look of the 488.
I would love to have either one but I struggle to pay more than 150k for a additional toy.
It may sound strange but I would pay 150k plus for a new rear mid Corvette before I would on a preowned Ferrari. But I am a Corvette guy all the way so it just personal preference.

Looks like they've separated the air vents that are somewhat integrated into the C7 tail lights with some body work as well. I know people thought it looked like tears or running mascara when C7 first came out.

That's pretty much where I am as well. I've come close to buying an F car on a couple occasions, and then reminded myself I life in the middle of fly over country. Great for wide open roads with no other cars on them, but no place to get an F car serviced. On the other hand, I have an outstanding vette tech who is simply top shelf at a Chevrolet dealer literally 10 minutes from my house.

That would be a deal-killer for me too.
I have a Ferrari dealer 40 miles away and it would work for me.
Any further and it wouldn't be feasible IMO.

the biggest openings in the front and rear fascia are not for the lights; they are entrance and exits for cooling air and to reduce lift and drag, and increase downforce so that they don't have to rely so much on the use of spoilers front and rear. with a relatively blunt front similar to the 488, they can have a much prettier profile than the older cars, while at the same time lowering drag and increasing cooling capability and downforce. judiciously placed exits such as openings in the hood and other places are part of the package. i also expect a more complex air flow device in the rear to assist with engine compartment hot air exit and lift reduction.
the drag coefficient, cooling effectiveness, top speed and handling should all be considerably better than the c7. a win, win, win, win situation.

A wrap around outer lens would let them loose the ugly rear quarter fender side marker by moving it up to the top rear, inside the taillight housing.

I know the pics aren't super duper up close and greatest quality, but has anyone noticed the lack of locating holes and/or an indention for a cross flag? I don't see one either front or back. It may just be the lighting, but I can't see it. Corvettes have always had front and rear emblems. Any ideas?

More than a few of us C7’s owners de-badged most of our “emblems” — at least as much as we could, but insetting prevented doing that for the V emblem.
Maybe the ME will allow some to do complete de-badging should they wish.

I've never liked badges in my cars as many would agree..
Make rebadging an option as that's something I'd either do myself, pay someone or just take them off myself...
Some people like them and for them..I'm sure not having alignment pins would bother them...
I'm sure the factory can figure out exactly where to place the badges without the alignment pins...
Just my opinion

It's a form of advertising as far as they are concerned.
