Latest 2019 ZR1 & Latest Mid engine 2020
#21
Can those who envision a ME being revealed this coming January, be it Corvette or Cadillac, imagine if after the overheating issues Corvettes have at least had on the track for supercharged motors since the C6 ZR1 was revealed (admittedly under very infrequent occurrences), that the mid-engine which has its motor totally enclosed, were to similarly have overheating issues?
Look at the delay after delay in the ZR1’s release. You think proper cooling was not a factor in those delays???
How TRUE.

With GM you have to read inbetween the lines. I interpret it as there may be no major changes to existing models, but there will be a new model (ZR1)!

There will be a ZR1, and sooner than many think. However, if one were to ask GM even the day before it is revealed, they would that day deny that there is such a model coming in the future.

They do an excellent job at keeping it hush hush. Even my GM rep claims she is out of the loop.

Give 'em a chance...it could work.
The head of Cadillac is this guy:
https://www.linkedin.com/in/johan-de-nysschen-6910704
He was previously the head of Audi in North America.
He has stated Cadillac's goal is to compete with the German brands.
Last January, he let it slip a 2-seat high-performer was on the way.
I have owned several new Cadillacs during the last 20 years.
Dependable, stylish, some were sporty, and all were nice to drive and turned heads wherever I went.
I would not hesitate to buy another.

Yes, I've made a similar post on another thread. Cadillac's track record for sports cars is awful. You have to scratch your head when they take the C5 frame for the XLR and stick an elderly Northstar in it instead of the LS1 that was in the sister C5. Especially when Corvette was getting ready to move on to the C2. Just really bad decision making.

I really don't think the car we have been seeing running around is a Cadillac. However, if it is a Caddy you can count me out!! There as never been a true Cadillac sports car so why start now? That and the Caddy styling it horrible.

I am not worried, i.e., there will be a Corvette mid-engine! Whether a couple of years after the Corvette’s ME 2020 model year reveal, we get a Cadillac version, remains a question.

As Fasttoys1 (who has had many ME)’s has shared, engine overheating is a major, MAJOR potential ME issue. Remember the 780+ Porsche GT3’s, a few of which burned to the pavement, having every one of their motors (and maybe more) replaced?
For this potential overheating reason alone, there will not be a ME reveal for at least a year, more probably not until 443 days from now at January, 2019’s NAIAS.
I would rather wait another year and have all ME issues fully sorted out before they go into customer hands.

The cause of the engine fires in the initial run of 2014 GT3s was incorrectly torqued connecting rod bolts iirc, and Porsche replaced every engine even though only 3-4 cars actually caught fire. Later engine failures have been caused by finger follower failure resulting in top end damage, and the 991.1 GT3 now has an extended warranty for 10 years and 100,000 (unlimited?) miles on that specific failure.
