A "Total" solar eclipse comes around faster than this mid engine Corvette.

Interesting that this is the first time I can recall a publication getting the release year for the ME car projected as far out as 2020. Some of the forum members have been speculating for while that the ME will be a 2020 or 2021. The publications had predicted introductory years as early as 2016. I think it was Car & Driver or Road & Track that predicted the ME would replace the C7 in model year 2017. Obviously all that was incorrect.
The timeline in the OP's attached article, year 2020 lines up with the construction document submitted by the panel supplier and appears to be accurate.

There are several things in the link I find highly doubtful.

Everyone thinks they have a scoop. It's beyond ridiculous the misinformation floating around.
The ZR Will debut soon but don't hold your breath for the ME

From the NCM... "No major changes are coming for 2019 as models, colors and options from 2018 will carry over".., so they're being "misinformed" by GM?....

For the 1,005th time . . . Those who know don't talk, and those who talk don't know. For some reason, it's very important for a few folks to present themselves as having privileged inside information about future Corvettes. I guess that's just human nature. The reality is that GM is actually pretty good at controlling new product information, so you will find out what they want you to know, when they want you to know it. Deal with it, like the rest of us.

agreed. There are probably a few on here that KNOW everything.. sitting back laughing. It would be nice of them to at least let us know the price range. IF there is only 1 c8 and cost 120K I would not wait or waste the time.. but if there are 2 one at 500hp ish for 60-65K then I can and will wait. Its going to be rough hanging on a corvette forum without a corvette for a year+ =-/
damn it.. someone PM me with a simple "Wait" or dont wait" hahah

Guessing or hypothetical is half the funof hanging out with car guys in person or on the net.
At least it is for many of us.
I'm sure those who know are dying to spill the beans but can't...hahaha

exactly
Debuting the ZR and the mid engine car together would be akin to buying your significant other an expensive piece of jewelry and a new car and giving both on the same day.

Here's a thought..... Go out and buy a new C7 ZR1 when they are first released. You'll likely pay sticker but you have the 'oh, wow' car for a while. Then.... when the ME is released, maybe in a year or two, dump the ZR1 and get the newest thing. There will likely be plenty of people around who want that 'last' front engined supercar Corvette and will pay top dollar (well, not sticker like you paid, but pretty close). That is my suggestion for keeping you at the top of the heap for the next year or two, for relatively few dollars lost to depreciation. Nobody said that kind of fun would come cheap!!!

I believe the CADDY mid-engine will debut in Detroit in Jan.
You're right.

Can those who envision a ME being revealed this coming January, be it Corvette or Cadillac, imagine if after the overheating issues Corvettes have at least had on the track for supercharged motors since the C6 ZR1 was revealed (admittedly under very infrequent occurrences), that the mid-engine which has its motor totally enclosed, were to similarly have overheating issues?
Look at the delay after delay in the ZR1’s release. You think proper cooling was not a factor in those delays???
As Fasttoys1 (who has had many ME)’s has shared, engine overheating is a major, MAJOR potential ME issue. Remember the 780+ Porsche GT3’s, a few of which burned to the pavement, having every one of their motors (and maybe more) replaced?
For this potential overheating reason alone, there will not be a ME reveal for at least a year, more probably not until 443 days from now at January, 2019’s NAIAS.
I would rather wait another year and have all ME issues fully sorted out before they go into customer hands.

One thing that we can be sure of GM will milk the free advertising for as long as possible. All of this speculation couldn't be generated no matter how much they paid for adds.
