Will the ME be introduced in January?

Who's taking orders before the reveal? Now I'm confused.
To reiterate: I think the mid-engine Corvette will be revealed at the Detroit show in January 2019, and go on sale fall 2019.

I am willing to bet anyone and everyone any amount of money that the mid engine Corvette will not be introduced at the January 2018 NAIAS in Detroit. This show is 6 weeks away and if the ME Vette was to be introduced in 6 weeks, the press would have gotten wind of it by now. Furthermore, with the production of the ZR1 beginning in March, GM has zero reason to get the ME Vette introduced this early. They want another full year or so to sell as many C7's as possible because once the ME Vette is introduced, sales of the C7 will drastically drop off. My feeling is that the earliest introduction will be January of 2019, and will begin production in the late summer/early fall of 2019 as a 2020 model.

16 Vettes and counting…..
Most likely January of 2019. However, unless GM decides to take a pass on revealing anything new and exciting in Detroit 2018, perhaps they have something else up their sleeve. A concept car with no formal confirmation of future production or brand association perhaps?
There have been Corvette and Cadillac concepts revealed in the past, some aspects of which eventually made it to production. I just don't see GM showing up with nothing new in their halo arena. But that's happened before too.
A year is a long time to wait in the auto business, especially when the secret is already out, and a "show" car could be the start of one helluva marketing campaign.
I go back and forth on this......my gut tells me there will be something at Detroit. If the ZR1 is their only big news for the next year, then why didn't they wait until Detroit instead of Dubai and Los Angeles? It's not as if production for the car is going to start any sooner. I just feel like the ZR1 is getting out of the way of what might show up at Detroit.
Speculation sure is fun.

The question becomes is the Z06 really 2/3 of the ZR1?
Maybe they show the base ME in 2018 and it’ll be a sign that they are a year or 2 away from anything that outperforms the ZR1. So if you want the highest performing corvette get the ZR1. You know there’s plenty of people here that just want the highest performing vette.

I feel the Z06 hits the sweet spot for price/performance. 650 HP is plenty for the street. The thing that the Z06 doesn’t have that the ZR1 does is the updated front fascia. There will be people that will pay the 33% price increase to get the VISUAL differentiator, and the added horses is secondary. It comes down to bragging rights, the human flaw many companies cash in on. (Yes, I admit it, I give in to it too. I HAD to have the Z51 over the base Coupe because I wanted the upgraded brakes and 10-spoke wheels, not that I needed either for the street).

Exactly. Which is why if my lower back issues don't get in the way I will buy a base C8 this time around.

A C7 Z06 coupe and convertible were enough for me thank you. When the ME hits the year after next, I can just imagine how much interest it will attract on the highway and at the fuel island. It is time to dumb down with the next one. I just hope they loose the Stingray fish on the fenders.

You can get an 80k Z06 that has an msrp of 93-95k or more right now!! And I think you know the answer to your question! I hope they show the base ME at 2018 but the “insiders” here don’t seem so confident, though I think it’s very possible/likely that the ME will be played very close to the chest and few insiders will know.

That has been the rumor floating around here...too bad, IMO.
If the C7 is any indication, the MEs will be followed by trains of cars and flashing smartphones' cameras.
I hope you're wrong, but I don't think you are...

If it is debuted in June 15, that would be the best birthday present to me ever. But, I wouldn’t know why the hell they would choose June over NAIAS, Detroit 2019. My money still stands for that date. And ugh, all these people saying “from higher up, don’t ask me” lol

The only reason supporting a June, 2018 reveal is the rumor, that like the Ford GT, they are going to run it at next June’s 24 Hour of LeMans (June 16/June 17) prior to a full reason of 2019 running it in the Weathertech series.
Still not personally believing this is the ME’s reveal date, just pointing out one thing that supports it.

which color?

Definitely outside the box thinking. Glad they stopped dithering and finally made a decision.
Hope they stick with yellow and not try blue again. The blue was bad luck the last time they did blue there!
