The 6.2L should help get it there.

Coolant / electrical bussing is a natural fit for tunnel routing;

You don't need a tunnel that large for coolant and electrical routing. That thing looks as big as the C7 tunnel and that has the exhaust pipes and torque tube which really take up the space.

The tunnel's primary purpose is likely for chassis strength/rigidity, as it has been in the past. It's usually called part of a "backbone structure". It's also a natural routing location for "stuff".

Who else gets excited when they see this thread bumped to the top? Just hoping you've made it back quick enough to see ZERV's latest gift before it vanishes

What are they going to do to him? Ground him for a week? Put him in timeout? ZERV isn’t breaking any laws as far as I know. Maybe he signed some agreement saying that he wouldn’t leak information or something, but is it legally binding? The pictures are something GM doesn’t want us seeing, but they didn’t copyright them. If ZERV is in fact a GM employee, he will be fired if caught. But if he isn’t an employee, GM can’t do anything. He has access to interesting stuff, so he’s just sharing it. ZERV has more pictures coming, just wait.

There must be some additional shots of the body yet to come. Can't tell much from this one, but I hope the spoiler is integrated or deployable....no tacked on pieces.

Zymurgy, with all due respect I can only go by what GM has done before, the Fiero, which appears to be held by some in distain in the Corvette Forum community. I owned an ‘88 GT which fit my budget at the time. And although underpowered was fun to drive as my only DD driver in all weather conditions, snow included up to about 8” on roads. Below, I will repeat my initial post in this thread highlighting why a large, high tunnel is what most American car owners want and expect in the front center of the interiors between the seats, especially sports cars. Its intended use in the C8 can be debated. I also go with what others think that it is structure strength related with the added speculation the C8 retains the C7 center frame area.

The high tunnel maybe to keep the current esthetic we expect in our sports cars. Personally, i’m turned off by a lack of that tunnel in European rear engine autos. Another reason that if the engine radiators are in the front the thickly insulated coolant lines in the tunnel need a lot of space to coincide with drive by wire cables. GMs previous rear engine auto ran them down each side just between the rails and not insulated.

Check out these Fiero Chassis pictures with a large tunnel structure excluding coolant lines.

I agree. I hope it’s similar to the mclaren 720s with a nice active wing that looks great down but useful on a track.

If it looks even half as good as the 720s, I’ll be happy. But if it has an active spoiler, it needs to be moved by electric motors, not hydraulics or pneumatics. Electric motors react quicker and are a lot lighter.

Ya I hadn’t even thought of that. I wouldn’t be surprised if the used a standard attached spoiler for the base, then an active for the upper models and a high wing for an all out track version (gt3 fighter.). At least that’s my hope.

I see no spoiler for the Base model, like a Huracan. An active spoiler should be on Touring models, like a 720s. Track focused models should have a hybrid wing, Koenigsegg Agera RS/One:1 where it’s mounted to the body but the contact patch moves. That would be ideal in my opinion.
