Read the first line:

Each 2017 R8 exclusive edition comes standard equipped with full LED headlights, which are now supplemented by a laser high beam module

That's ONLY high beams. In Europe they have even the low beams laser.

Because we have archaic low beam (and rear tail lamp) laws.

I'm sure they could have gotten enough cooling aft of the doors but that would have meant huge gaping holes in the body of the car. This choice likely improved the lines of the car at the expense of kerb weight.

Counting the coolers wouldn't be necessary if GM didn't lose the benefit of the doubt with the C7. How else are they going to signal that they are serious about cooling? Counting the HE's is a good proxy that dumb buyers can understand. GM could instead give us how many KW of heat rejection the car has, as Tadge did in responding to our Q's. However, no one can verify those claims and frankly buyers are too stupid to talk in engineering terms.

Front end of the NSX, with no front trunk, showing the radiator. Of course the NSX has coolant lines running from the radiator to the engine through the center "hump".

From the CAD drawings, it sure appears that there is a front trunk in the nose of the mid engine GM car(what ever it ends up being called) and it doesn't appear to leave room for a centrally located radiator in front of the trunk. I believe the two side radiators shown in the CAD drawings under the headlights are a split radiator for the engine coolant, and then possibly the A/C condenser that doesn't require much airflow, might be located in front of the trunk.

So you are basically saying that if there is a front trunk then there is no front radiator? No, I don't think that's true. You can have both. Porsche has had them for generations.

I'm guessing on the NSX the hybrid powertrain takes up too much room to leave some for a front trunk. So I'm more likely to believe that if some C8s are hybrid they won't have a front trunk.

Yes. NSX has 2 electric motors in front which takes up frunk space.

There are numerous reasons to look back at this thread that lasted for 10 months. It kept us glued to the C8 Forum for the information on the mid engined Corvette like no other. Viewing these leaked CAD views gave us a look at many sections of the car that we gleaned a massive amount of logical projections on where the car was going. By observing what componentry is under the body panels we can make a fairly educated guess of where this is going to land pricewise. Chazcron and FVS have utilized this thread to help generate their renderings with very logical interpretations of the internals. Ironically, the largest thread on the C8 section is Zerv 02's "$169,000, final price confirmed" with 1,945 posts and counting. Chazcron's "chazcron's 3D model work in progress" has 1,772 posts and counting. C5Drivers "Question-Why would someone just not buy a Porsche" has 1,098 posts and counting. My "What are the chances of a C8 FE and C8 ME revealing together?" has 1,037 posts and counting. ConcernedCitizen's "Unlikely base MEC using upgraded LT1" has 1,009 posts and counting. So it appears that most on this forum are only concerned with Price, View of Renderings, Comparison to Porsche, Reveal Location, and engine and transmission types, all in that order. But the single most important thread is still ZERV's "Code name Zerv" thread as it encompasses everything that is critical to all of the above concerns. There are some here on the forum making heated comments that have never read this thread. They should if they truly want to be informed.

Zerv's last post on this forum was one year ago yesterday. Odd the images he started the thread with are no longer available. Hmm.

Quinten33, you have just saved the day. I remember reading that as soon as ZERV was posting these, GM had the Forum taking these CAD views down only to be put back up by astute members like you. Thanks so much for maintaining these. Do you have them all?
