External help designing the mid engine Corvette?
Hi Folks
Has anybody heard if GM consulted with other car companies who have considerable experience in the Mid engine world when designing the new ME Corvette?
In the past when GM was building version 2.0 of their 1st production mid engine car they did not have experience designing and tuning a serious mid engine car so they consulted with Lotus engineers on the design of the suspension. They also had Porsche engineers come to the testing grounds to tune the suspension.
Apparently GM management had staff remove the taillights on the 2 twin turbo mules that lit up with "Porsche Eater" before the Porsche engineers arrived

When GM built the first ME vette they bought a Lamborghini Muira to investigate the design of a ME car.
I am sure GM did bring in some other consultants, we may never know who.

GM consulted with Pontiac since they built the ME Fierro.

I'd be willing to bet GM has a shop/warehouse in some secluded location with brand new McLarens, Porsches, Ferraris, and a Lamborghini or two disassembled to their last nut and bolt that have been studied intensely inside and out by high paid GM engineers.

^^ That must be why it's not all "profit" since some is competitor R&D purchases! Of course they have consultants, former employees, designers and actual cars they go over---that's the world of corporate competition.
