Like Harley Davidson the buyers of the Corvette for the most part are baby boomers. It is no surprise that they will NOT be around as buyers for much longer so with that said it is totally understandable for Chevy to change the Corvette to appeal to a younger group of potential buyers.

I don't really care if GM goes the turbocharger route as long as it works good. What I do care about is I really hope the mid engine C8 Corvette does not look like your rendering. That's just butt ugly.

Drove a 2018 911 Porsche the other day and you could not tell it has a turbo. If you drive my Mercedes you cant tell it has two turbos. I think times have changed in reference to turbos.

My only complaint is the sound, other than that, bring it on!

I used to think that.. But listening to this changed my mind... A turbo can sound really nice if done right.

Turbo's are more efficient. That is the big difference between them and crank powered chargers. They consume less engine power than a shaft driven charger.

From what we've seen, however, it is moot in that the C8 will not look much like this at all...

I agree it is ugly and they should work harder to really change the looks like the Acura. Beautiful lines . GM needs a total uplift. Look at the current rendition, still has the C7 looks just a few cosmetic changes. IMO, which is not much

What he said. Unfortunately the widespread implementation of turbo chargers is due to the CAFE and EPA requirements. They're working diligently at trying to get the internal combustion engine removed from the planet.

I really like the render! Looks simple, small, classy, and very fast.
I have concerns that the rear portion of the C8 is going to be oversized. I actually hate that my C6 has 4-6" of air empty space between the hatch and the rear bumper, and a lot of air space up front as well. Why?

FWIW GM will give us what we want. Whether it be big displacement, electric motors, turbos, or supercharger. The determination comes to the gas guzzler tax and how willing the consumer is to pay it. The gov slaps GM with a tax or fine if their fleet average falls below the EPA's guidelines, this tax or fee is passed on to the consumer via the gas guzzler tax. If it makes GM the most money, that is likely the route we will go.

Your comments are right on and lets face it GM has been a follower not an innovator. The European car makers and Ford have been improving turbos for years while GM is still using old school superchargers.

Truth is the development of turbos dates back to automotive antiquity and the reason the European car makers made that bet is to save gas and save the north pole on their one liter engines.
The European car makers have been improving Diesel engines as well and now the all thing is going the way of the dodo bird...
Maybe "old school" means getting things right the first time...?
