Default What if the new ME Car is not a Corvette?

First off, I am not attempting to start a thread on what evidence points to the new car being a Corvette. I just am asking those who plan on purchasing the ME Corvette what will you do if it is badged as something else, will you still purchase the car? For example, it is released as say a Caddy?

Again, I am not trying to get everyone trading evidence on what it is going to be just what will you do if…..

BTW I have a 2017 Stingray which I really like and plan on keeping for some time.

I'd still look at it. I have a Ford Mid Engine and last GM was a Fiero..... so, need to check it out.

If the ME is designed by Corvette and built in Bowling Green, and it's badged as a Vega, I will still buy it.

Could the Corvair be called a ME? drove it on a windy day over the bridge and the front wheels almost did a wheely. Fiero did they not have problems? cute looking car though.

Nice theoretical question, but it will only be a Corvette ME for at least 2020 and 201 model years. No one is discounting a Cadillac ME further down the road. Reason: Cadillac has too many more immmediate issues to deal with than a very small market take rate like a ME Cadillac would be.

Not sure if I would agree. Also having a Cadillac version with basic similarities would not be "reinventing the wheel". The additional costs would not be that great and the halo effect roi for Cadillac could be significant.

i'd just debadge it, unless they called it a zora. it'll either be a corvette or a zora or some combination of the 2. i hope they are not foolish enough to use the same body panels for the cadillac as they chose to do with the cimarron and cavalier, i would have to say about the lowest point cadillac ever sank to except for the 350 diesel.

until cadillac introduces a signature sedan with STYLING that everyone has to take seriously, it will not get back to the place of esteem that it held from the 1910s to the 70s.

if gm plans to keep 2 or more models of the corvette, i would expect to see the mid engine be called the corvette zora, or just zora, and the c8 would be a new version of the c7.

Conversely, shouldn't the ME Vette be called rear engined? Those covered mule pics looks like a new generation rear engine'd "Corvair" to me!
C'mon, .. the motor is in the "rear" in all of these type cars!

It was pioneering technology which is widely used today. Porsche 928 used those GM patents dating from the 50s in their V8. It was a throw away engine as was a 928 engine. Typical courage of GM engineers which often did not pan out..

My 928 at Louis XVI house in 85.

Cadillac's big problem is they don't have any cars in the market people are buying cars in. CUVs. They have one offering, the XT5. Big SUVs they own but that market is almost as limited as Sports Cars. They have some really nice sedans but people aren't buying sedans of any make. They all want CUVs. Unlike Corvette Caddy can't survive being in a niche market with small volumes. Even though the Ford GT is a couple hundred thousand car it is still a Ford and not a Lincoln.

No. What he said (at least 3 years ago), while being questioned by Peter Lorenzo about the "Zora" is that he knew of no such car.

This is how we get all these "Tadge is a liar" posts.

The CAD drawings show the engine and most of the transmission in front of the rear wheels. All that extra space behind and above the rear wheels appears to provide a much needed trunk.

Bingo.
There will be two separate models, one with the engine in front of the driver and one with it behind. GM ain't dropping their 65 year old traditional GT layout that'$ worked amazingly well for them. Each model will benefit from the other.
