Wow, flat rear deck is a new twist. Wonder if the lid will be see-through. I dig the wheels.

The writer for Autoblog says ... "Through the camo we can see that the engine cover has two flying buttresses and a small, upright rear window. It reminds us of the Porsche 918 Spyder's engine cover." I told you guys this as well last month!, yet many still wanted to say those fake fastback structures meant a C7 type rear ... Un, uh!

How is a flat rear deck a new twist, when it's been clearly seen ever since the pics of the two engineers frantically trying to cover it up, months ago???

... And I posted these two back around New Years Day, that it appears to have an upright rear glass, and a flat deck possibly like this Porsche ...

Take a look at the headlights on these pictures as I think they may be very different to what has been imagined to date. There appears to be an LED light cluster (lights on) in from the side of the fender, but rather than a single flush mounted glass unit, it looks like there could be a separate second round lamp set back in a sculpted area above and outside of the LED's. McLaren have done something slightly similar on the 720S.

I may be completely wrong, but for those with a keen eye it is worth a look.

I agree. Seems like they are testing two versions at the same time based on the wheels and spoiler differences.

I wish they would use a lower grade velcro and straps...Maybe they can catch it when the cover blows off.!

I must say that I am surprised that no over-enthusiastic car lover has never run up to a mule and ripped the covers off for a few pics!

I have long suspected, or at least wondered since the early mule pics, if the strange roofed car we see is going to have a retractable hardtop, much like that of the SSR?

I don't see enough room to fit the width of that removable roof section into the front trunk anyways, especially if the hood opens along the suspected cut lines?

A question for people in the know...

If the ME will be revealed in Jan. When will they need to start street testing without the tarp and only the painted camo?

Wont they need to test and fine-tune with only the actual skin at some point? How close to production do we usually see this?

My memory is really getting bad but I seem to remember that I have seen a Corvette with that same styling before. oh...wait...now I remember...50 years ago....when I was just 25.

While none of the spy shots show it, I believe that this design means the end of the small windows aft of the B pillar. Also, maybe the mid engine is going back to the old design T-Tops as the roof's center bar does add some to the cars rigidity and the two separate removable panels would be easier to store in a small cargo area vs one large roof panel.

My 1969 T-Top panels and my 1983 Z28 T-Top panels were a lot easier to store/handle than my larger one piece targa top on my C5.

Best looking Vette ever. That is the best rear end of any car. MY first Vette was a 73. Got it on my birthday Dec. 72. I was 25.

I have to believe the majority of these pics are set up via Chevy. Ask yourself, how is there no videos or sound clips? The first thing I would do if I caught it in the wild would be turn on my video recorder!

I imagine that they have been high speed, etc, testing without the tarp camo at GM/US Army Yuma proving grounds as it has a restricted air space(no aircraft or drones allowed unless you want to take on the US government) and its away from the highway(and from cameras). You also don't want to be caught trespassing on US Army property.
All the testing in the snow(spy photos) don't exactly lend itself to high speeds(with or without the tarp camo).

I suspect that by next fall(2018) we will be seeing some spy photos in just the vinyl wrap camo from testing at Nurburgring.
