C8 Mid-Engine Corvette Design Language
Is it just me or anyone else think the new mid-engine corvette will have similarity with the McLaren 650 S design language? Here is a photo of why I thought it is slightly close to the McLaren 650 S from what we can see

It has to check all the same design cue boxes for sure. Overall shape is similar. Hope GM has some interesting and exciting details and contours to dazzle us with soon...

Le Mans Master
The ME will need to be pretty amazing to come close to what Ford did w the GT. That car looks like it came from another planet compared to other ME platform vehicles. Having said that, I am sure the Vette will be more "practical" than the GT.

Corvette has had 2 mid engine race cars already.
If they borrow from those it will be awesome too.

I think it's too much to ask GM to design something as bold as McLarens.
It won't be nearly as exotic-looking IMO.

subtle
the C8 is hiding in plain sight in the picture and it is no P1. We have already seen the front and back. The rest is sharper lines than the P1 and more busy. Look at all the lines and contours on the hood of the C7 or the Camaro for that matter and you will see there is nothing simple about the C8 design. Just the opposite of a P1. The P1 looks like it has been run through the car wash about 10,000 times and all the edges have been worn smooth. Though the sides are relatively clean on the C8 with some nice bulges. Sort of the coke bottle look with a big rear end. The C8 is much more subtle than the in your face Ford GT scream machine.

I believe the basic design premise of the c8 will mimic the mclaren 570...except we ll have an ohv motor that doesn't need a billion dollar..(4 grand a year extended )warranty to own long term.

I based my opinion more on the hopes of The Faithful than anything else.
GM knows a Corvette ME will be controversial among fans...at least, at first.
One way to gain acceptance of the car is to keep the design language as conservative and close to previous gens as possible (particularly the C7).
Also and for example, it appears there will be a 6.2L displacement engine (OHV and DOHC have both been mentioned).
I don't think this was pulled out of thin air.
IOW, the BIG difference will simply be the relocation of the powerplant.
This should give less ammunition to critics when bitching.

I have posted this image in other threads but thought since we are talking design attributes I'll drop it here to discuss.
This render simply is taking parts and sections from other cars and designs and mashing them into the same shapes and proportions of the latest mules.
I left it as a see-thru overlay to be able to see the mule lines under the render for comparison.
To my eye, if it ends up anything close to this (better of course) it will still look "Corvette like" and exotic but also "accessible" to current Corvette owners.
I am sure details will be much different but the overall, if the mules are not complete red herrings, are close.

Safety Car
Thanks for that rendering. I think the rear fender intake is larger in the rendering, than it is going to turn out to actually be.
