A nice plus to having a raised hood area with air outlets maybe to preserve as much front trunk space as possible ?

Although from the CAD images of the front and, I can't tell exactly how much room there would be in the front/trunk

I know that the 458 had a decent amount of room. Can anyone tell from the CAD how much Storage space may be up front?

I altered this sketch to suggest that concept and adjusted a few other things based on his comments.

I also am trying a different hood treatment based on his comment..."There is something on he hood in terms other than a panel. Even as the Base C7 has heat extraction, there is something more going on here than just a contoured body panel. Obviously it's not a heat extractor, but it must be aerodynamic/aesthetic purposes o it. Not like the 2005 mustang with the fake hood scoop, hahaha."

It has been suggested to me by another member that the hood outlet may be "something" like this...as a feature. Not exactly, but some sort of slightly raised area with vectored outlets.

Just something to consider while we wait for OPs comments and sketches.

Very exciting!

Keep in mind this is a dramatic - forced perspective view so the fron

Hood extractors are used to reduce lift and create downforce.

If you need to haul stuff send it ahead by FedEx or put it in your wife’s car.

Mid engine cars aren’t about hauling cargo

That is one great looking car firstvettesoon! Thank you very much.

We await c7pimp’s sketch to nail down what is “polarizing” (in a postive way as he noted), about the ME’s front hood.

One of the great/iconic polarizing things about the design history of our Corvettes, is the hoods of the C2 big blocks. My guess is that the hood, echoing the McDonald’s center of hood raised bump, and its specifically its trapezoidal shape, is picking up some specific features of either the 1966 or 1967 big block hoods. So if we could mentally imagine all of the following hoods somehow melting together — yet looking terrific and performing critical aero functions.

c7pimp, if you only have limited time, would you please sketch the hood first? Thank you!

I don't think it's necessarily about hauling stuff. I think it is more about having enough room to store more than just your wallet,… And I know some of the guys here have pretty big wallets ! :-)

Maybe most mid engine cars are not, but from what we have heard and read it seems that this feature and function, that many believe is a desirable plus is indeed a factor for the Corvette design team if not a priority.

If the Ferrari can have "acceptable" storage space no reason the Corvette can't.

I don't think there would be too many complaints if the car performed the way everyone wanted, as a super car, and still had storage space.

It'll most definitely have a frunk.
Anything Porsche, Lamborghini, Ferrari, or McLaren can do as far as carrying crap around GM can do BIGGER. Their measure may have shifted from hauling 2 golf bags down to 2 folding car show chairs, 2 umbrella hats, and a 12 pack cooler.. It'll have a hole to fill up though.

Our Cayman's ability to haul things still amazes me.

^^^

Great comparison. I saw a video of a 458 or 488 with a full sized man (although slim ! ) hiding in the trunk.

As you say, GM/Corvette will do it bigger or better. Maybe no golf bags...but the NSX seem to fit 1 bag in the back.

No but GM will make enough room for 2 golf bags.

Don't you think the C8 might have a strong resemblance to the Lotus Evora 400? The front, the back, the seats...

May end up looking like the Evora's bigger/stronger...better looking- American cousin...

It’s about soft luggage so you can squish it in. I can haul a medium suitcase and soft luggage and small stuff in the Aventador. The rest go under her legs or lap.

That sure gives them a good reason to second guess what's really necessary to take on a simple weekend trip.

To: C7Pimp

Would you be putting your source at risk if you produced a tracing of the ME image(s)?

Just a thought...

I'm a crappy sketch artist. Getting the features translated in the proper proportion and onto this perspective is not something I am good at in the least. It looks slightly goofy in the side scoop and the hood but this is the best I can do. Getting the door line correct is difficult and it's slightly off too. The vanishing point of the slope of the rear of the car is a little off and makes the rear deck toward the tail light edge seem awkward. Like I said, I suck at drawing but I gave it my best shot. The top of the rear fender line is not so hard edge'd as this appears in the sketch. Hopefully your eyes and brain can imagine it making sense proportionally.

There are a couple more key details that I haven't put on the drawing yet and I could refine it a little bit, but the weekend is here and I won't have time for a few days.

Looks great! Can someone do a render using this sketch?

You said in a prior post that the car does not have a rear quarter glass behind the door glass. That sure as heck looks like a quarter glass window to me.

I hope the side door intake isn’t as rounded as this picture indicates.

I made a slight tweak to the door intake. I was hoping it would look more like this rather than it looking so roundish.
