Ferrari's special edition 488 shows drastic changes in front aero appearance, it'll be interesting to see if measured improvements are on par with the optics.

Not going to lie, the thing that weirds me out is that rear quarter. All of it. I think its just got to do with the way its rendered perhaps...
I tweaked the drawing a little and adjusted the side scoop to follow the CAD image. From the CAD we can't really see the top edge of the bottom ledge or lead-in to the scoop so we will have to wait for C7p, but this is accurate to his description and drawing.
If this drawing generally represents the car I would say GM and the Corvette design team delivered as promised. The nose, while reminiscent and recognizable as a Corvette, looks new and modern. The overall shape and feel evokes Ferrari AND American muscle. IMO.
So far the tail end seems like it will not be as big a controversy as the c7 tail. It seems most here are relatively happy with the design we have seen so far and I am sure the actual car will look even better.
Looking forward to more details.!

After reviewing C7pimps comments and direction lines... I "think" this is what he was describing for the shape of the side scoop?
Is this closer?
Is the CAD image showing an under-structure rather than the actual body panels of the mid section? If so, this is why I thought the scoop bottom line was higher.
If this is correct...it does look much better.

Safety Car
While I generally love the way Ferraris look, count me in the group that is not loving its 488 Special Edition rear fender.
If that fender makes the car .1 or even .2 of a second faster per lap, I am happy for its owners who drive it on the track.
I am also very glad the ME Corvette’s rear fender is going to look nothing like that.

Is forward most part of that scoop actually molded into the door or will it be some pos tacked-on looking piece?
#352
That's essentially it, except in the middle of the scoop you have it come to a point. The scoop outline is a smooth and continuous curvature. The beginning of the scoop on the door doesn't slope downward immediately, it goes towards the back of the a car first, then bends downward.
Is there a rear fender top inlet as shown?
Is the spoiler similar to the c7? attached? (I did not include yet)
Thanks for the guidance.!

But on the C8 the quarter window is not useful to the driver because that window must not exist. Otherwise, why always keep it covered when all the other windows have been seen? Why limit the driver's sight lines when they are already restricted?
Something else not seen is the door handle. Where is it? Does it look like the C7's ?

New line drawing.
I am thinking since C7 said the rear glass did not look like a window exactly, it may be an intake similar to the 458?

Answering my own question: The door handle is a touch pad like the C7 and is located under the scoop extension on the door. You reach underneath and pull on the pad and door handle which is the extension.

I liked the previous drawing better..I really dislike the continuous perfectly rounded curve of the intake. It will need to be seen in person to get the full effect but i don’t have good vibes about that intake shape based on C7Pimps comments...
...and where exactly is the door handle...

Adjusted headlamps as described and smoothed the scoop.

I think the actual lines will be much refined from this but essentially it should now be close thanks to C7pimp!
It is difficult o guesstimate the shape. I am sure the design team refined and refined to make all the lines work together. After all, he said it looks stunning. !
We only need to know about the rear fender top inlets...similar to C7 intakes? bigger/smaller?
Rear spoiler/wing. C7 style? If not are there any other cars it is similar to?
Does it have a front splitter?
What is the grill like inside the Delta shaped paint shop fascia.?
Do you think the rear glass could be an intake similar to the 458?

The bottom skirt doesn't have a trim piece, where you have it shaded black is yellow body. My original drawing is an (poor) attempt to shade it as showing to concave curvature of that surface (outlined in yellow and black in this pic.
The surface outlined in pink bulges a little, so you'll need to shade that part as it transitions to the surface outlined in blue/pink. The transition is filleted (rounded concavely) It's one body panel.
I'll try and draw it

It I think your render makes it look like the car is the same width from directly behind the front wheel through the door and then widens at the scoop. The cad shows (and C7 pimp has said) the car is widest right behind front wheel then narrows up as it moves back through the door area then widens back out (possibly more abruptly as it curves outward into the scoop).
Also the “panel lines “on the rear quarter look “funny”. Too many and not symmetrical

In every photo, we can see the top of the scoop extending onto the door and right there is always a flap on the car cover. Under that flap is the door handle concealed as part of the scoop.
