C8 mid engine driving in Colorado today

Safety Car
ME cars tend to have SWB because of the location of the engine and chassis loading considerations. Viper has a short wheel base because of it's ME nature, but the C5,6 and 7 were able to have long wheel bases because of the location of the engine and gearbox. They also have the most flexible chassis of any sports car. With the materials the Vette ME is using, I can't see how they can design a light and stiff chassis. I'm not only concerned about how this car will look, I'm much more concerned about the chassis design.

I found the video. Poster claims twin turbo for sure. I personally don't hear it in the video, way too much traffic noise.

Always nice to see it out in the wild. These pics gave us some good views of the headlights and taillights. Should be able to insert them into the spy photo renderings.

Drifting
These mid engined camo'd cars seem to have some sort of device that makes taking video, or getting any recordable engine sounds impossible. The secret system only allows still pictures and/or video from another vehicle that drowns out their engine tone with wind noise.

Check out the lights on this C7 test car that wore camo a one time.

I must have good speakers. There is way to much road noise. When played on a loop I can here it for two seconds after the car gets to the other side of the intersection.

Great shots and nice to see then testing it in high altitude. Thanks for posting.

I think the "purloined" CAD leaks, and the fascia shots, are FAR more useful clues in the proportions (except wheelbase, of course) and detailing of the new C8 than these heavily, and IMHO very effectively, camo'd test cars.

Is the ME really the 8th Gen (C8) Corvette? If you've been around a few years, you already know what I think. ME threads in the C8 forum still make me chuckle. Could I be wrong? Sure...anything is possible until things are officially revealed. But like I always say, time will tell.
ME sightings are always good to see, regardless!

Actually, ME is better in any traction limited situation::
a) acceleration--more weight on the driven wheels
a.1) less need for nose rise to transfer weight under acceleration.
b) braking-- more weight on the larger wheels with the heavier loading
b.1) thus shorter stopping distances
c) lateral (cornering)-- more weight on rear wheels makes it easier to steer the car with throttle
c.1) because less weight transfer is needed (a.1) the car enters and recovers from drifts with less judder--making transition handling more predictable.
Those are why it is a better race car,
as long as the interior does not lose room--it is also why the street car will be a better car.

The ME will clearly be something different, but if it is released at a similar time, I guess it could be considered part of the C8 generation, even though it would be a completely different platform.

I think we'll see a C8 reveal a couple of years following an ME reveal.
