I think that hood scoop looking thing was deliberately put there to throw off the viewer....

Not trying to be mean, but awww that makes me sad...I like those so much better than what ended up on the actual car.

It is an outlet. All the inlets and outlets have a screen over them. I think these renders give the most technically correct information to date. Top ACS render for side scoop. The middle and bottom render the hood. The bottom render is wider on the left in anticipation for the 800HP version.
Hoping the A pillars are body color. Still pretty awful for a Vette.

It was sometime late '13, early '14, it was around the same time camo'd Z06's were being spotted. I thought I had one more saved on this phone of the same car with a closer pic of the headlights, but I can't find it.

Thanks MikeG37. I was thinking around then too. Reason I am asking, is that we are all wondering when the “thick camo” comes off the ME and we get down to its single layer, zebra vinyl suit.

We probably won't see this car any less covered than we have until after its reveal if it's "hidden" as well as the C7 was (not counting the spot on Jalopnik renders), these pictures were from October-November '12. The zebra wrapped ones started popping up testing after 1-13-13, but before they were put on sale.

There's a full view CAD screen shot, or a render based on a what someone has seen floating around out there somewhere we'll definitely see before the official reveal. 10 months is a mighty long time for someone who's got inside info to keep it under wraps.

For those of you good with photoshop and making mock photos. I think you are close but not unite there. There are photos of three fenders out there. Front and rear bumpers, and rear quarter. Plus a CAD drawing of the bottom side skirt. Plus practically 360 pictures of the mules out there. Yes the lights are not it. But are close to production. The hood will look like a cross of the C7 and Porsche. The Z will have wheel wells that stick out an inch farther than the base. The rear quarter intake will be twice the size of the base and a different angle. But no second intake like on other mock ups. Just a nice curved fender. No air outlet on base model behind the front wheel. There will be air exhaust ports behind the cab. But two different styles. One for the solid top, one for the spyder. I don’t think soft tops will be around anymore. It wouldn’t work for that rear facing camera on top. I don’t think these mules were twin turbo. They are NA. The Z will be because it has larger exhaust and larger cooling intake ports. Sorry (not sorry) about posting the same photos in two threads. Z/Zora

I think those first mid engined mules we saw were late Alphas/early Betas with C7 parts that'd "fit" (the doors, roof, and windshield) hence them not being covered in thick padding. I highly doubt any model released will have interchangeable parts with an existing car.

If the C7 had the 550 HP engine it might be considered

I agree. Nose looks really long for an ME.
