Any ideas if the C8 will be exported to Australia in RHD?

It is easier to convert the steering and pedal side on ME and RE cars than on FE cars.

This conversion cost $30 000 in 2010. Uses a Holden rack.

ME = Mid-Engined
RE = Rear-Engined
FE = Front-Engined

In a front-engine vehicle, there are numerous underhood obstructions to the steering column & related steering components. Such items as exhaust manifolds and other parts of the engine complicate switching the steering & pedal assemblies from one side to the other for export markets. Mid- and Rear-Engined vehicles don't have that added complexity in the front of the car, so moving things around is a bit easier.

Has Chevy ever produced a RHD Corvette?

Any time they showed them on Top Gear they were always LHD.

Are LHD cars not legal to drive in Australia? Thought Shmee said something like that in his recent trip there.

According to one article, "Neither St. Louis nor Bowling Green ever produced a Corvette with the steering on the right-hand side, so an industry has developed over many years converting imported American cars to right-hand drive." http://www.superchevy.com/features/c...evy-corvettes/

And here's a great video on the C7 being converted for Australia. Shogun Conversions... an "Aussie" company... actually moved to the Philippines:

Here's a bit more info:

"In Western Australia vehicles of less than 4.5 tons that are at least 15 years old may be registered despite being LHD... In South Australia only vehicles that are over 30 years old may be licensed as LHD. If they meet certain other requirements these vehicles may be fully licensed to be driven on South Australian roads. Vehicles that are less than 30 years old may receive a single-trip exemption in order to be driven from the area of import to the owner’s home or place of conversion."

In Australia, any vehicle older than 30 needs to be RHD.
