Lambo doors on the C8

Actually this is a very clever design - essentially a one-point hinge that acts like a uni-ball joint. Unfortunately, McLaren has a GATT Patent on this design for the next 10 years. After that you may see this concept on other cars.

I toast McLaren’s for their ingenuity and engineering brilliance. Never owned one, but never say never...

Mitch, they weigh the same as a door that opens regularly. Many brands are making body parts (including doors) out of Carbon Fiber. This allows the door to weigh MUCH less.
And to answer your first question.....I would like Lambo doors-even on my C8.

I think it's to keep costs in check. Just like the Huracan. Real Lambos have Real Lambo doors. That's what MAKES them Lamborghinis.

Instead of Lambo doors, how about Mclaren (720, P1) doors, or Ferrari (LaFerrari) doors, or Mercedes (SLS) doors... or, okay you get my point.
I'll be fine with the next Corvette having gull-wing doors, butterfly doors, scissor doors or standard doors. I trust that the designers will incorporate the style that best meets the "form follows function" (including the economical) needs/goals of the car.

I could live with dihedral door hinges like those on the McLaren or BMW i8. Not sure the scissor style will work with the design.

Guys, anything other than traditional doors will not happen for any Corvette. I asked Tadge during one of the sessions at the Birthday Bash. Tadge is not a fan of non-traditional doors....scissor, gull-wing or otherwise. He states that they make it difficult to get in and out of the car. Plus, he said that if it rains, it causes more problems too.
I don't see any Corvette with anything but traditional doors.

Just need to find a manufacturer in the wild, wild east (China, India, etc.) where patents are not worth the paper they were written on, to copy this design.
