May Car & Driver has ME on the cover...

If this is the car, I would reconsider my deposit on one. I am not at all thrilled with the simplicity nor the apparent weight of the car. It looks overweight to me! I have higher expectations for design from the GM design team. They are much more talented then this. This is not a car that will thrill a world wide crowd. At least not from the design arena.

I renewed my Car and Driver subscription recently, in response to a mailer they sent, but sent a letter with the renewal saying if the magazine was going to continue to spew its anti-Trump politicized bs, they can cancel me instead. I bought the mag to support one of the few mags left, and to read about cars, not see cartoon drawings of Trump and hear their political views from their ever shrinking pulpit.
Surprisingly...my subscription ceased. So be it.

Proportions look all off. Hopefully one of the few who's actually seen the car and are willing to comment will weigh in, but here's a quick adjustment I did (I'm not good at photoshop or anything, I did this in powerpoint lol)
Back wheel looks too small and the whole car looks like it was stretched in the vertical dimension, hopefully it looks more like this:

I’m a “less is more” guy as well (though some “surface interest,” which this render has, doesn’t hurt.). I just think the thing is way too bulky looking. Nothing a couple inches off the top of the hood AND an inch off the top of the rear fenders wouldn’t fix. What do you think of Yuri’s subtle stretch job? Add another inch or so of window height for the requisite “airiness” and you’ve got a proper ME Vette!

NewYuriCity's version is a lot better. It still looks plain (not his fault) but at least the proportions somewhat resemble the test cars we've seen.
It's like C&D had someone verbally describe the car to an artist who has never drawn cars before.

certainly looks better. Nice job.
Too bad they left off or changed "known" details.

Don't buy it if you don't like it

Couldnt have said it any better! C&D definitely seen the final car and for sure left out “known” details and some proportions. I will ask on behalf of everyone else, can you please edit this rendering with your touch? As in change the proportions and add your special, unique talents? I think everyone would really appreciate that!
Cheers,
Austin

Safety Car
As FVS has repeatedly cautioned us, when we see the final car in person, it will look much better than any rendering.
When 150 of us were invited to the C7 reveal — all of us having seen the Jalopnik pictures before then, about 15% were not thrilled with the car on the bus ride to the reveal. At the reveal were able to walk around it as much as we wanted. Latter, when we gathered in the hotel lobby that evening to discuss it, all but 1 or 2 of the 150 were in “C7 happy heaven” with what they had seen.
I remain very excited about what GM reveal to us next January!!!

Looks like an FE car more than a ME
Thanks for sharing. Proportions up front and sides are way off. The way this is shown, all visibility advantages afforded by a ME configuration are "rendered" useless. There is no hood bulge as drawn by the artist. Rocker panel to bottom window sill height is exaggerated, and there is no body taper / coke-bottle shape seen in countless spy photos and many descriptions by folks in this forum. Rear of the car shown is wrong - lights, vents, top edge of deck with integrated third brake lamp, etc. Artist missed a lot of design details. Not impressed.

God no!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Good lord. I hope this isn't the real thing. My worst fears are realized. Chunky monkey. Not an ounce of sex or excitement about it. As much shape as an effing 914. It looks about as contemporary as a Fiero.

Great Caesar's Ghost...
Based on the many spy pictures, the more I look at C&D’s rendering, the more I am struck by four things. I am confident GM will “fix” all four.
1) Too bland;
2) Front hood is too high and the bulge is too wide;
3) The upwards curve in rear fender is no where as tall and bold as it will be;
4) The rear fender needs to have more of a “coke bottle”/C3 shape from the side view, but also in a bird’s eye view.

I can't look at it any longer--PRE{POSTERIOUS
I can't look at it anymore. That 3/4 view from the rear is so freaking fat and ugly. As pointed out by others, just the distance from the top of the wheel well to the top of the fender is PREPOSTEROUS. Preposterious!
I have to take a break.
