It's said to be the most significant evolution for Corvette in decades, so let's talk about it. Check it out right here.

I didn't proceed past the rendering, if you can call it that.

I think it is a great looking car. However my wife and I enjoy road trips and my C7 coupe checks off all our needs. I’m not a bring back round taillights type person but I am happy with the current Corvette. Not to mention, but I will, it is paid for.

Why!
GM is making serious layoffs, down to one shift. Made all the fuss over the Corvette Z06 for only a few years. Creating a stir over heating and some engine problems. Bam! Here comes the C7 Grand Sport getting all the attention after only a few years of celebrating the Z06! Pissing off a lot of Z06 fans. If that wasn't enough confusion, another few years, here comes the unexpected Corvette ZR-1! The Auto Media just knew it would be the Corvette C8 Super-Car. Like wishing for a girl and getting a boy instead. Well! Us faithful owners who are more then satisfied with our traditional Vetts are praying that GM confusion will go away and things become normal again. GM, if you had asked the everyday Corvette drivers what we really want in a Corvette, it would have been, add a supercharger to all new corvettes and let us decide where to go from there. I am just hoping the Corvette will still be around.

I've been waiting for this mid-engine Vette since the 70's. Personally, my perception is that this is the next evolutionary step in a great automobile and I suspect that it will open up new limits to handling and performance that will allow the Corvette to stay competitive and move towards the front in the high performance market segment for years to come. This has been the greatest "come-on" in my lifetime of automotive interests and has been played to the hilt by GM with spy shots and leaks, etc, etc. If they get this right to my expectations for style and interior space and keep the price bogey around $80k for the base car, I'm definitely in the game. The C6/C7 are great cars but the mid-engine has the potential to be even better. Better be on the market next year, however.... GT-4 looks pretty good too.

A modern Camaro, properly optioned, is a direct competitor with a C7 Corvette. It offers all the performance, with more interior room and less stigma. It only makes sense that GM decides to make the Corvette competitive on a higher level

I agree with you on taking the Corvette to a higher level, however owning both a C7 and a 15 ZL1 Camaro, I can honestly say there is no comparison. The ZL1 is faster than my Z51 and handles as well (at least for my driving ability) and was comparable in cost, but lacks some of the comfort features of my 3LT.

I am really excited about the mid engine as being a corvette enthusiast it brings a fresh cup of coffee to the table. Don't get me wrong front engine rear wheel drive V8 is the Icon that built the brand and I do not think GM will throw that away. I see the C7 being produced along with the C8 . How cool would that be to have both available , you decide vanilla or cherry Garcia its up the buyer. I personally will order a C8 as soon as I can as I love rear engine driving cars and the design that goes along with it. Kudos to GM for trying something new and I agree with the above post that it is the way to the future and the direction to develop new technology moving ahead into the evolution of performance.
