It is difficult to put the power to the street. My old 427 vert had 505 hp and that was plenty for the street. I too would do the 600 hp unless the car ends up all wheel drive, then 800 hp for sure!

Again ..with the ME being a whole new thing why would they use "Z06". "Z51" "GS"? I think they should have exclusive codes for this new model.

Jmo and I'm sure not a popular forum choice but it would be my personal preference.

You can't go wrong with any of the choices.

Yeah I hear you. The only thing that would keep me from getting the LT1 is I would feel that it's too similar to my C7. I'm sure the ME setup will yield higher performance, but I don't think it'll be by a lot and likely nothing you can actually feel on the streets.

A 5.5 V8 high reving engine would be very nice and a turbo 800HP is certainly not needed but lets see how well these cars puts the power down.

Yeah it's possible that it'll cost much more. Like others said, the 800HP turbo model will likely be the Z06 version and $90K is a bit over $10k increase.

Anything more than that, the Corvette starts becoming not that affordable and will be marketing to a much smaller group of buyers. Many people will end up adding 3LT equivalent worth of options which takes the car to well over the $100k range. But we'll see. Just fun to discuss in the meantime.

For now I based it off the $10k increase rumor from the other thread and then went up the ladder based on GM's current price structure as you move up the Corvette line.

I think it can go up another $5k each model. But anything more than that, the car really becomes not affordable because those are starting prices before options.

If the ME does cost a lot more (more than $10k-$15K), GM would have to produce a front engine FR version to keep the $60k to $75k sports car market.

In normal driving, the LT4 has to be treated as though there is an unboiled chicken egg underneath the gas pedal (IOW, the right foot has to be very gentle).
It is so easy to pick up a lot of speed without really trying to.
Don't get me wrong...it is thrilling, but the driver has to ever mindful or they could open themselves up to getting the attention of nearby LEOs.
And that can be costly (trust me here).

Interesting, how C&D completely ignored the 4.2L motor option that 1) other media has often mentioned, and 2) that 4.2L is listed in the IHS Markit Engine Foredcast as providing power to 8,000, 2020 ME Corvettes.

The smaller the motor, the less weight and the less heat by-product (which we all know is going to be even more of an issue in the ME than in FE’s); oh, and the trifecta, better MPG which might not be important to any of us, but is important to GM.

Hence, not to be obstinate, but calculated, since the Cadillac’s 4.2L is rated at 550 HP, 627 TQ, I would be very happy to have that motor’s Corvette counsin in my ME.

BTW, in the IHS Markit Engine Forecast, they predict the lesser amount of 5,000, 5.5L’s for the 2020 ME Corvette.

on the other hand, de Nysschen recently said emphatically that the 4.2 was a cadillac exclusive, so there might have been a change of plans.

Actually de Nyschen did not say the 4.2L was a Cadillac exclusive. He did however say this 4.2L going into his Cadillac (which GM calls a LTA) is a Cadillac exclusive. I agree on that, that no LTA will find its way into any Corvette.

However that does not preclude a 4.2L, also a 32 V, DOHC V8, however with with some parts differences (most exterior to the engine), which GM calls a “LTB” (or “LT11” or whatever) , from going into the 2020 ME Corvette.

It easy to see how both can be true. His version is a hot-v. The ME corvette will not support this. So the PN for a conventional 4.2TT gets put in the corvette.

I would love the 5.5L, except I want to keep the lower center of gravity with the cam-in-block engine. DCT/LT1 with 500 horsepower will be amazing at $65k.

I'd like to see the base ME equipped with an LT1 bumped up to 550 hp, and the 5.5 DOHC @ 650 hp, and then the big dog @ 800 hp, with another 200 hp coming from electric motors on the AWD Super Car model.

I'm with Jerri on this one. I like the LT1...at the right price. The beauty of the LT1 is if, down the road, you want more power, there are a lot of aftermarket options, (e.g superchargers, cams, etc.) I doubt it will be very easy to upgrade a high tech DOHC twin turbo 4.2L or 5.5L V8.

I'd go with the 2LT interior and the Z51 package (if there is such a thing...)

If the ZR1 755 HP starts at $120k, a 800 HP one will be start around $130-140k 🤐

For me it's going to depend on the styling. Some of the mockup's are only fair to partly cloudy. ME's have very little storage room, that could be an issue. It needs to hold at least two bags for a weekend.

As long as it has kick in the back, neck jerking acceleration, I do not care about its HP number. I have a C7 Z06, and what I want in the ME is a car that can get is power down to the pavement on a non-hot-weather day.

Being an ME will markedly help its getting traction.
