The price is not going to skyrocket. People do this all the time with vettes, and I have no idea why. The same people that swore that C7 was going to start at 70k, the same people that claimed the Z06 was going to start at 125k are the same ones in here saying the C8 is going to start over 100k.

Expect 58-62k base model, and +5-7k at every trim level. Stop being ridiculous; It is a Corvette.

The new Caddy V8 is not going in the C8. The caddy v8 is a hot V motor, the C8's TT is cold V. How do we know? Because we have already seen the full cad images of the motor mounted on the rear sub-frame with intakes and air to water intercoolers.

The base engine is not a V6, it is the LT1, again... We have seen the cad images.

Expect base to be an LT1/2 with the same hp as the base C7, or maybe a mild bump to @500hp, but I would expect that in a year or two as a refreash; Again... Just like every gen launch for the past 20+ years.

Expect the base to launch first, the only real question is will the GS, Z06, ZR1 C7 share a year or two of production, I highly doubt it, but maybe just the zr1/z06.... maybe.

Basically, expect exact same things we saw for the C6 and C7 launches.

Exactly. And, the haters and never happy group will go negative on every part of the car.

GM had a mid-engine care, it was called the Fiero. Since it worked so well I can see GM going back to the well. Oops, Pontiac is gone.
And so is the ME 2 seater. Trust me.

Different trim levels will get it to ~$95k fully optioned with all the goodies. While this may seem like a lot for a Corvette, the Camaro is inching ever closer to the Corvette in terms of performance and price is pushing the Corvette as well for top-line engine and trim. So, GM will take the C8 to another price point where it becomes a true halo car without the exotic pricing.

Let's face it - walking into a Chevy dealership, you can see a $70k+ Tahoe, $60k+ pickup truck, and a $60k Camaro. The Corvette is the pinnacle of the marque, and it will be priced reasonably but still at a point where it is somewhat exclusive. For most, the Corvette is a luxury or toy, and a slight price bump won't effect the overall sales.

When the optional engines arrive in coming years expect the prices to bump up another $10k or so.
I agree with this. My gut says ~$89k. Simply considering the rate of inflation and general health of the economy it would be strange to bring it any cheaper especially when you aren't discouraging anyone away from the brand with the $55k C7 and $64k GS still available on showroom floors.

Maybe they'll bring it with the LT376-535 spaced between a $79k Z06 w/640 hp and $133k ZR1 w/755 hp if it's sporting 535 hp with a mid-engine design and that's the 1L 'low' model. The power delta and savings keeps the Z06 from being cannibalized and the ZR1 is a low 2-5% seller anyway. I would peg a 3L model near $104k with Napa and tech. Considering the nearest performance competitors (911, NSX, 570s, 6C, GTR, R8) cruise between $130k - 188k Chevy can still proudly proclaim under six figures, provide substantial savings with similar performance and have the distinct soundtrack to go with it. It'll get butts in the dealership and settling for a C7/Camaro is a win-win for customer and dealership.

I really hope they'll offer an LT5.5 or something birthed from their racing program. That would be the absolute cherry on top even if just for the soundtrack. Just keep the carbon ceramic brakes and magnetorheological dampers optional.

If it comes in at $89k for a loaded L3 model and a stripper can be had at $75k and I fit in it I'll put my money where my mouth is. I love my 911 but I miss the torque from the LS3 and could do with an automatic so others in the family can enjoy too.

I think the optional engines will be considerably more, however. The spread between a C7 and Z06 is 43% and the spread between a C7 and ZR1 is 139%. If a base Zora is $80,000 that would be the Z model at $114,400 and the ZR-e model at $191,200. Given the power ratings and subsequent performance projected for those cars compared to what Ford has done with the GT and the general state of the sports car landscape - these are reasonable numbers (bargains!) and in-line with the Chevy ethos.

Tool - rumor mill states it's gonna be DCT only.

I think you're right...
All those camo'd mid-engine cars were just to throw us off...

Causing anxiety in others is an internet norm....when changing an American icon of 65 years it's easy...

And creates great discussion ...

I agree with the original poster...it's all in good fun so let the games begin...

It'll have three wheels...

I am not focusing on the negative feelings about “returning to this forum as a flashback to 2013,” but the positive.

It is like another highly anticipated Christmas is coming, and I again feel like I did the weeks before — when I was five years old. Just put more money in our Me savings account. I am...

Flushed with excitement and anticipation!

Let the good times roll again, or as my musician friends would say, “second verse, same as the first.”

My head's been hurting since 2013. I THOUGHT this was a forum for all things Corvette. At some point in 2013, this tiny group of guys who I can only assume were ignored as children, post, ad nauseum about everything they THINK is wrong with the C7. I have NO doubt they will do the same with the C8.
I always ask them the same question: If you hate the C7, why do you hang around on the C7 forum (JoesC5 is a notable offender). Love the C6? There's a forum JUST made for you.

Corvettes become part of the family. Family members can criticise other family members provided it is amongst other family members. You don't bad mouth a Vette in front of Ferrari or Porsche owners. Why, my brothers one daughter voted for Hillary, she is still family.
I can't imagine not having a Vette but with no extra cost, a little more attention to detail would make one hell of a difference.
The general proportions of the V7 is magnificent but the car seriously lacks refinement. It looks so cheap. There is no excuse for this type of cheapness. The ZR1 is grotesque. My sketch keeps the exact same structural elements yet it retains the important heritage features. I'll keep my N/A 600hp highly modified C6 thankyou very much. Damn right I'm worried about the ME car with the same designers doing the work.

Well, I have faith! I think the car is going to be great looking. The C&D cover is not close to the finished car, IMO.

It'll look better than 90% of the supercars on the market. Better yet, it will outperform that same 90% once the Z06 comes.
