Default It's code name is ZERV here in the auto industry

....not sure if any of this is old or new news, but posting this article anyway from this month's SAE magazine...sorry for the 'no particular order' pictures.

...anyway I like what I see. I have heard noise and heat abatement are issues just behind the driver...but I bet GM will figure it out, however, I wouldn't opt for a high end stereo system!

oh, try to decipher the acronym ZERV...

ZERV = ZORA Engineering Research Vehicle.

Zora was infamous for getting around GM’s rules for production vehicles. His main tactic was to call them “engineering research vehicles,” or ERV’s, so he created CERV 1 (Chevrolet Engineering Research Vehicle), then more CERV’s after that.

That engine combo is a disaster waiting to happen. Bad enough that we willing to accept this stupid German idea, Toyota is getting a BMW engine in it's new Supra. There goes the Toyota name. If we needed help designing an engine, do as Toyota once did, they sort the help of Yamaha.

Am I blind, or are there no references to ZERV in the scanned article? There's just one brief mention of a possible mid engine platform.

You're not blind. Just an SAE article on the new Cadillac hot-vee V8 turbo for the CT6 Vsport. Based on the leaked CAD drawings we've seen, however, the mid-engine Corvette is unlikely to have a hot-vee turbo.

that designation is used internally at GM and with all the companies in the supply base...not discussed outside for now, but loose lips...i think you get it!

I do get it. I was just hoping to get some additional ZERV tidbits in the article.

Looks like direct and port injection.

Pretty bad *** that the intake manifolds are also intercoolers. Am I seeing that right?
