I'm hearing no manual for the C8. Bodes well for manual higher end C7's.
The concern about resale value I addressed when I bought mine. I accepted that it would not be a good investment and the years I enjoy driving it is the car paying me the difference.
That said.... what's my 2015 Z06 Z07 3LZ Callaway M7 with custom Forged 360 wheels and carbon fiber trim pieces worth?
14K miles and it's #308 of C7 Z06's.

It can go 1 of 2 ways.....
#1. (what I really think / hope will happen)
C8 comes out at 60K MSRP and used C7 prices will fall to the low 30s, used C6s will hit the low 20 and maybe even dip into high teens.
#2. (what I really hope doesn't happen)
They price the C8 high (80+ MSRP) and C7s will stay on par for the course at 35-40k, same with C6s at 25-30k

Not sure what others are seeing, but the dealers in My area have far less C7 inventory.
Less than I have seen in over 2 years. Perhaps they know something.!!

If the C8 is 70 +, I'm out of the Corvette club for good and the 60k in my pocket will go to paying off my house. I just don't see GM being able to pull this off at $60k.

If it comes out high, I'll just buy a C7 (finally) and wait.

C7 sales are down by a third compared to two years ago. No need to stock inventory of something that is not selling as well.

I understand what you're saying and that's what's odd about gm's choice of supercharging their star track car (C5 and C6 z06) but I guess by your definition the gt2 and McLaren 720s aren't dedicated track cars either cause they're forced induction?
I don't even understand why they're dual clutch automatics, I think track cars should only be manual.
A supercharger is definitely more weight in the front than a turbo but to make enough power and keep up with Porsche and McLaren they added a supercharger, I'm not sure why but they did.

c8 wont have that restriction as its rear mid engined
i dont know why but corvette guys pay cash often times with their purchase...fwiw ...the average car loan today is 84 months...
it was in the news yesterday...
for those who can afford 60 but not 70 or 80...the rates are still so low...live the dream....go an extra year or two.....
I know it sounds sick but google it...more than half the car loans are 84 m9nths...wtf...
the cars seem to last longer so its not that bad a move
ive never done it...but it seems we are living in a vacuum...
84 months is the average loan in a car today....

No way would I saddle myself with that kind of debt on a depreciating asset. If someone can only buy a car on an 84 month loan then they can't afford it.
It's just a car, there's no reason to sign away your life for it. Get something cheaper and you'll be happier because you'll have money for more important things. Hell, the Camaro is now as good as a Corvette for street driving. A used low mileage 2SS totally loaded can be had for under $40K.

The fact that C7 sales have slowed down significantly and the pending introduction of the C8 is going to significantly impact the value of your C7, it won’t matter if you have a manual transmission or special paint or what ever. There are no collector or rare cars here. Way to many produced of any one model.
Think about this, according to an informed Corvette blogger for model years 2014 through 2017 roughly 145,000 Vettes were produced. There are still roughly 22,000 of these unsold. That’s 15% of production and this doesn’t include 2018’s and 2019’s that they are still producing! When you add 15% of the 2018 and 2019 production to the 22,000 GM will essentially have 1 production year of Corvettes that will have to care huge incentives to sale especially since some of these will be setting around after the introduction of the C8. This spells disaster for used corvettes prices!

The C8 will not be priced significantly more then the C7 is today. In order for them to sale 35000 to 40000 Vettes a year the price can not be increased. They are not going to sale 40000 C8’s priced at $90000 to $130000 and they need to build that many to cover the cost of there overhead. Remember how much money they have invested in that plant and then divide that by 3 to 5 years worth of production and you’ll see how much overhead cost alone is per unit.
This theory of manual C7’s retaining value is a pipe dream. Someone might give you $500 more for one.
I have owned 2 C7’s. A Z51 coupe which I traded on a used Z06 coupe that had a 1000 miles on it and was just when year old when purchased. I bought the car $15000 under sticker. After having the car for another year and half (which by the way was 3 model years because GM came out early with the 2019), the most I could get for the car with 2000 miles on it was $26000 less than sticker! This is a true indication of what C7’s are bringing. Down by more than 1/3 in less than 3 years!

I find some of the comments about the C8 being through the roof......does not correlate with the Culture at GM/Vette historically.
If the C8 comes out on the low side, and the public get a real fondness for the shape of the C8......then the C7 will drop like pancakes.
The C7 is awesome and I think we won't see such a dramatic shift in C7 pricing when the C8 comes out.
How do I know? I don't . Just my thought.

I noticed a dealer near me had a big ad in last Sundays paper for remaining 2017 C7's at 25% or more off sticker.. That is one impressive discount for a new C7 with full warranty.. Probably half the cost of a ME when it arrives. I'm wondering why folks lost interest so quickly with the C7? Can't blame it on looks. Could it be overproduction caused in general by a stunning loss of interest in 2 seat sports cars that caught GM with their pants down and may continue on with the ME?
