ME’s Tire Size
Some, including me, were thinking the smallish tire sizes on the first spy pics were for the entry 2020 ME, but thanks to GM Authority, we have a new picture to look at — with some pretty good sized rear tires. I am guessing the rears are either 295’s or 305’s from the below pic, with the fronts either 235 or 245’s, but with nothing to calibrate them with, ???
First, below are common tire sizes for many other ME (except I did not include the massive meats from the V12 Lambo’s , and second caveat that the size listed below for some models changed one tire size from one year to the next, the HP version of it, etc., but at least giving us reference points.)
NOTE:Every 2019 Corvette, regardless of “entry” or ZR1, runs 19” F/20” R
Tire Size /Wheel Diameter for Common ME’s (F/R)
Audi R8: 235/35/R19; 295/30/R19
Audi R8/V10: 245/35/R19; 295/30/R19 [Opt. R = 305/30R20]
Ferrari 488 GTB: 245/35R20; 305R30/R20
Ford GT: 245/35/R20; 325/30/R20

Specifically, the rear tires of the prototype car look nothing short of massive from a width standpoint. In fact, they seem roughly twice as wide as the tires on the front of the vehicle.
Corvette Mid Engine C8 Wide Rear Tires
To note, the current C7 Corvette Z06 and 2019 Corvette ZR1 feature the following wheels and tires:
Front: 19×10-inch wheels wrapped in P285/30ZR19 rubber
Rear: 20×12-inch wheels wrapped in P335/25ZR20 rubber
That, however, is not an apples-to-apples comparison, since the C7 is engineered with a front-engine configuration, while the C8 will have a mid-engine setup, thereby changing key dynamics and traction properties of the vehicle, along with the requirements of the wheels/rubber.

Given that these are test mules, testing tires is big part of that. GM seems to have a way getting companies to create specific tires for specific applications. But these need to be "tried out".
Not to mention that GM is also testing the suspension and dynamics of the car, not only for the track but for everyday use as well.
Point is, I wouldn't put too much credence in mule shots because the final product could end up much different.

Yes, the world is round and the earth does circle the sun. One more tidbit for doubters.
When Jag drove around the back side of BGA during the BASH (totally legal for all to do this), he noticed that sight obscuring netting is being erected around the black side — next to the body shop in that humongous parking area where we have earlier seen hundreds of C7’s in their white traveling suits staged during QC hold and other pre-shipping times.
Question, if nothing will be upcoming to hide at BGA, why for the first time is sight obscuring netting being erected.

A rough estimation is that the rears are approximately 40% wider than the fronts based on the length of the yellow lines in elegant's post.
That would be work out to be around 235F/325R or 245F/335R. I'm going with the 245F/335R as GM already has those tire sizes in it's part's bin.

my guess is the base car will wear something close to an R8
Audi R8: 235/35/R19; 295/30/R19
and the later high powered cars will wear tires similar to LaFerrari
Front: P265/30R19, rear: P345/30R20

So on top of the purchase price tax.etc, insurance, and all of the other expenses that'll go with buying the ME it'll come with summer only tires and I'll have to replace them as soon as the weather changes to below 40 degrees. BECAUSE I AM GOING TO DRIVE THIS CAR EVERY CHANCE I GET WEATHER TEMPS BE DAMNED

loutsoul,
Just think about an upcoming thread we could have on the number of fasteners holding the frunk’s liner to the car’s inner structure? Or one guessing potential, optional wheel designs?
Still, while right now we are often discussing the size of the head of a pin, we keep getting closer to reveal day. And along the way, we are s l o w l y peeling back the layers of camo.
We could use some definitive, major knowledge soon...
