Default The New Generation XLR/ME Corvette Material

Dear Members,
In the (early?) 2000s Bob Lutz did say in an interview there were some ME Corvette/Cadillac (XLR?) prototypes/concepts done. And he added that they were spectacular. When asked about the photos, he told go ask from Ed Welburn. He didn't want to show them. Are these materials still secret? Do you know anything about them?
In my view those things could be the answer we are all looking for about the ME/C8/Next Gen. Something tells me that perhaps the very reason they kept it in secret was because they intended to use it some time in the future.
Does anyone know they have been shown somewhere?
Is there anyone here (in this forum) who have seen those?

In the NCM Bash we know the GM officials never say anything about future products, but can they say anything about these projects?

It wouldn’t hurt to ask, but if it has to do with project ZERV, it could be considered “future potential product” or whatever they call it[/left]

Anything that old would no longer be relevant. Early 2000s would pre-date the C6. If they didn't just start over from scratch, they would have drastically updated it in the intervening years.

Does this look familiar with the ME’s rear quarter? However, the rest of that car is not happening for the 2020 ME Corvette. Notice the grill has a Cadillac emblem, maybe done around the time when the Cien appeared as another concept to consider?

SRX was discontinued 2 years ago and ATS will end with the 2018 model year. CT5 will replace ATS and should be on the A2XX (Alpha 2) platform. XT5 replaced the SRX in 2017 and is on the C1XX platform.

I remember reading an interview with Ed Wellburn after he retired and he said the sketches and pictures of the ME from most of the magazines and other sources didn't have it right. He mentioned "IF GM were to make an ME" it would be a gorgeous car based on concepts he knew about. It kind of echoes the sentiments of Lutz about how good the styling would be.

Not statements worth reading much into. Every designer I have ever seen interviewed about a car they designed says the same thing.
Other than the fact the mid engine Corvette wears a Corvette badge, it will echo some combination of mid-engine cars already on the road.
GM's biggest creativity is taking the exotic and making it affordable. Guessing the ME is no different.

I don’t know about you guys but looking at that photo, I see some design cues from firstvettesoon drawings. I see some similarity in the bumper and the rear quarter panel.

Got to earn your stripes...
Cadillac won’t be getting the hottest car in the generals lineup.
They have a brand for that already ,And seven generations in the making.
Its called Corvette.

I bet that Tom Peters says the same thing about his Aztek at the dinner parties.
