That is exactly how it is done with my two 2017 DD’s of different brands, i.e., they function perfectly without looking bad. So if other than GM brands can do it, GM can.

Does anyone know of a GM car that does it this attractive way please?

It's OK, in my opinion.
I find the engine intake opening in front of the rear wheels to be somewhat crude.

Thank God GM is putting sensors in the bumpers. It's hard to believe that anyone would throw a hissy-fit over the presence of the little round sensors -- why not throw a tanrum over the existence of side-view mirrors because they mess up the appearance of the car.

I have been driving for 28 years, using my mirrors, I have never backed into anything. Sensors are not needed. If I can save $10, I would like them left out.

I’m sure that’s what happened at their board meeting...
someone suggested raising the price by 300%...
and everyone voted for it!!!!

The corvette programi is almost 70 years old,
it doesn’t really work that way,
sunsalem is probably spot on,or very close.

Default Big Buttresses

Buttresses look thicker that I thought (was thinking C3-ish) rising up at about a 45 degree angle on both sides - very 488 Spider. Glad to see what looks like engine venting on the back deck - clear plexi vents would be cool. Also can see rear view mirror cam for when top up, parking cam above license plate and bumper sensors for active cruise and blind spot alarm. A co-worker has an Escalade with the rear view mirror cam - incredible HD wide unobstructed view - but can be used as a conventional mirror as well. Glad to see it on the ME.

Is this bottom gray tray just a diffuser or an active under car wing as part of the active aero? Would be in line with current Corvette race tech - plus require less wing up top.

Not a fan of the chunky buttresses on this car or the Ferrari--especially because they don't align with the seats; they're offset to either side. Much prefer the C3 version--sleek, sexy, refined. But the point is to discern reality and I agree; we got the fat ones.

sunsalem is right! You are going to be ecstatically happy, in fact you could buy two ME’s and still have some left over.

Default The "C5" type nose is way weird.

Why would Chevy introduce a new and radical camo element at this stage? And it's not trivial. Whether foam or whatever, it took some thought and a bit of engineering to stick this thing on. It doesn't comport with any of the other spy shots and it doesn't comport with the red front end shot either.

What the hell?

I wouldn't read anything into it. The red bumper from the paint shop is it. This is just cammo. Theyr'e finally showing enough that we can see the grill pattern so they're blocking the middle... just enough for adequate cooling.

I'm sorry but that makes no sense. They've run all the prototypes with the gaping mouth and no proboscis for a freaking year.

Why the hell would they do this now?

How can I not read something into it?

I am thinking that this is just a GM deliberate and classic misdirection — via revised, temporary camo.

As to why they are doing this now? We are getting too close and they want us to go in a different front fascia rendering direction (LOL).

I believe there is misdirection going on, as Elegant stated. They left the bulky padding in the center. What is visible here may be the paint shop fascia, but with intake inserts/grills (which we are seeing here) that show up looking tapered toward the center line, and are more pronounced because of the white camo. I recall seeing the white camo'd intake grills on the ZR1 test mules. The C5 style front seems too derivative in this application. I could be wrong. We'll just have to wait and see

That is not plausible.

At the last hour, they add--at considerable effort--a completely different nose profile?

Not buyin' it.
