Default I have a feeling the "squircle" will be a very prominent shape on the C7

From the CAD leaks of the tail lights, and now the latest C&D photos showing the "squircle" steering wheel. My bet is the new flag emblem has this shape around it. They've had "flags only" for the last two generations. Maybe they'll go back to circling the emblem?

We are at least going to get the squircle shape for the ME’s steering wheel. As for its exterior badges, as long as it is completely filled, fine with me, for we all remember the PIA trying to clean our C5 emblems.

I mentioned that to the Dave Hill during the C5 era to please consider an emblem shape easier to keep clean on the next gen Corvette, and GM listened (though quite probably not because of my suggestion).

When the Stingray was revealed for the first time in 2013 I noticed the shape of the Stingray body was integrated in many locations of the car. The main large body portion of the stingray emblem on the side of the car less the long tail was designed into many elements of the car. Examples of this are the center body of the steering wheel, the shape of the main dash binnacle in plan view and straight on elevation view, the shape of the front fascia in plan view(looking straight down from directly above), and other subliminal locations. This new ME shape displayed by the tailpipe end is rectilinear with radius corners and not square with radius corners. The steering wheel was the first component part that I noticed is rectilinear with these soft radius corners. Good design in cars will typically have subliminal shapes throughout the car body to tie in a common detail theme. I agree with your observation, only it appears to be rectilinear in form. I also think the revised emblem of the C7 V shape only more acute will be the design. CrabbyJ has posted this in the C8 Logo thread.

Yep... exhaust too. I agree the shape will be more of a rectangle but I googled "squircle"

The caption below is from a interview with Kirk Bennion of the Corvette design team. He was explaining the design of the C7 emblem,

Kirk also talked about the new C7’s crossed flag design which is a very big deal because that design is everywhere – its on the apparel and its in all the advertising. “We wanted to give it a little more speed, its got a lot more ‘V’ to it, a lot more gesture, and we really think it typifies the performance of the car” says Bennion.

Agree skank. I noted that, and some might wish to read the entire post in this earlier thread, for perhaps some other ME design clues he foretold.

I too am thinking the actual emblem will be just as CRABBYJ imagined it — as it would be totally consistent with the quote Kirk made (that you listed above).

Those are the final exhaust tips, unless this CAD is outdated.

The squircle is a C4 design element. We’ve already seen that the C8 uses butresses like the C3. I wonder if they’re integrating design cues from all the generations on purpose, like an homage to the generations of Corvette leading up to the C8.

Um, ok, wikipedia, not merriam-webster. And, yes, I've seen the actual article (aka the real deal) before in my c4 tail lights, which I liked.

I've said it before, I'll say it again. The round tail light crowd will NOT be happy when the ME is announced.

Many Chrysler products had squircle steering wheels back in the 60's

This is more like it since we've already heard that they are calling this ME a Supercar.

Hope the steering wheel is round. I really am not impressed with the flat bottom wheel in my current C7. When rapid steering is needed the odd wheel shape hinders not enhances imput.
