Do you want a coupe or spider?

Our last 3 Corvettes were 'verts' as is our Ferrari and Aston Martin.
I will opt for a ME 'vert'..... unless I have to wait a couple years after the introduction.
With respect to all the concern about an 'engine under glass' I would really like to see that on the ME but there has to be something there worth seeing besides a plastic lid stamped with the Corvette name and/or logo.

If I were a bettin man, I'd be sure that EVERY ME has a roof that comes off or retracts...just like the C7 lineup. Old guys need to be seen and need their hairs in the wind...we know this...lol.

[QUOTE=vetteman41960;1597258391]The point I was trying to make is that we can't hope for a engine bay that is worthy of display on an entry level Mid Engine DCT super car that has a starting price point of 75k or 80k.
If the starting point is 75-80k, 15k extra is about my limit on a see-thru rear hatch. I would be ok if the engine had what some refer to as a cheap plastic cover (similar to some of the Cadilacs) allowing for future modifications.

I remember before the C7 was released there were a handful of posters saying that GM should raise the price of Vettes by 50K-100K just to make it exclusive and to match the performance it offers with no other changes.
You'd have to have some pretty serious ego issues to want them to raise the price of the EXACT same vehicle so that you may feel better about yourself, but that's exactly what some were advocating. I guess to exclude us 'white trash' enthusiasts that only makes $XXXK guys from buying kick butt cars.
And there will be no FE C8. How do people hang out on a C8 forum and not know basic details like this? Show me the spy photos of the FE C8 when you get a chance to go with the 100s of ME photos floating around. Sheesh!

The corvette program only exists because 95% of its buyers consider it a super car ,...the best they can aspire to purchase in their lifetime .
Those 95% corvette buyers account for 25-30k units.
I wish people would just stop and try to understand this .
These buyers will dictate price point ,styling, mantenance affordability ,colors and suspension settings.

Spyder all the way... no more coupes for me.

If available, spider will be the car most will buy...unless the design is ill-conceived.

When I had a white 69 years ago(when I was young), it was a coupe and the T-tops never got removed by me, but my show off wife would remove them. My dark red 1998 C5 was a coupe and the targa top was never removed, not once, in the 10.5 years I owned it.
Don't be putting everyone in your little box of who you think all us older guys are.
Of all the vehicles I've owned since 1959, only two were convertibles. A 1957 Ford I had in the early 60's(was glad to get rid of it for a new Malibu SS hardtop) and my C1(100% of them were convertibles even though a removable hardtop was available).

Voting for the first week of this thread’s question, would you get a ME coupe or HT convertible, is running roughly 50/50. There are few qualifiers in comments, for example, some would first like to know if they would get to see the engine though the rear deck or not — as well as other current-unknowns.
One other question that could effect the “real results” (the actual order time decision) could be if there is a time of production delay for one version or the other — though most people I have talked with, said that if that were the case, the HT convertible would be the delayed model. Or course, if the delay were to be minimal or considerable, that would also effect some percentage of ordering decisions. I would for example wait one month, but not six months for the HT convertible.
Damn, we still have so much to learn.

WOW!!!! I am amazed at how many are leaning towards the 'spider'! I'm a 'vert' guy myself although I've had a couple of coupes since our first new '68 convertible. This may be a major 'shjft' in the product mix. What do 'verts' represent..... 20% or so of the C7's built/sold?
My Ferrari and Aston Martin are 'verts' as is my C7. I guess I'm one of the 'old guys' that still has hair to blow in the breeze. (Yeah I worry about skin cancer) That being said, My only issue is that I worry that the fabric tops on the C7 and Aston will get permanently creased because I so seldom put 'em up. That shouldn't be a problem if the C8 ME has a power folding hard top that tucks away behind the seats in a little vertical slot like the SSr we used to have.
Let's make certain the General knows about our preference for a 'spider' so we don't have to wait for months (or years) for it after the ME introduction.
