Could The M/E Car Come Out In Reverse?
With all the recent 1000 HP talk and electric motors yadda yadda this is sounding more and more like a really high dollar car. So my question is could they first introduce the high end version then in a few years have a $70K version based off of the high dollar car replace the C7 instead of doing the usual base car first marketing plan?

At this point anything is possible. But the normal progression of base then upgrades later keeps the cars in the headlines and gives free advertising. If they come out with the 1000hp first then a year later a 500hp base model it isn't as exciting, just my thoughts.

The co. also loses the "buy up" potential. Maybe not everywhere, but how many times have we seen people on CF buy the first year (or two's) model, and when the "new-new" model comes out, trade their first one for the next up. And then, some do it again when the next up model comes out.
Would anyone trade down---go from top of the line 1K HP, to 500 HP? I don't think so, but I'm willing to hear from those who would do it.

I see two scenarios with that, 1st is that they are going to kill the Corvette line, as there would be limited buyers and no one is ever going to go backwards when trading. 2nd would be if they are going to offer the ME as a over the top hyper car and just **** all over their existing clientele. Thus closing the doors on Bowling Green forever.
GM, with all their faults is not that stupid when it comes to marketing. If your first girlfriend is Kate Upton where are you going to go from there...assuming you are not super rich.

Seems like they kinda did that with the new ZR1. The best I can tell, people are still buying base, Z51's and Z06's.
So how will bringing out a high dollar halo model ME kill the Corvette line as long as there are other options within the brand??? Is the logic, 'If I can't afford the big dog, I'm not going to buy anything'???

Oh, by the way.... didn't Mary Berra make a big 'to do' about all the electrics and hybrids GM had in the wings and was going to start bringing to market around 2020??? Maybe C5Driver is on to something.....
If so, I'm in.

Not really. The ZR1 came when? First was the Stingray. 2nd was the Z. Third was the GS. Last was the ZR.
C6 generation looked like that as well.
I think it would be odd sauce for them to debut the top dog ME first, followed by lesser variants.

Why do I think there will be a lot of folks 'whining' like crazy after the ME 'reveal'..... Based on the strong feeling displayed in this forum, I can't see how GM could possibly please everybody.
My prediction: The C7 as we know it today and the Camero are going to experience record high demand and sales volume to match!

They could even put the engine on the roof at this point...
