In the Wild Sighting with Three Pictures
Thanks to Keith Cornett @ CorvetteBlogger for sharing these pictures, to their original source Scott Schwartz, and to Frank Schwartz for taking the pictures. The complete CorvetteBlogger article in which these pictures are found, is in the next post.
I know we all want way more pictures than these three, but for those of us ME starved for info and pics, here is an ME coupe for us to look at today..

With the photos of the C8 Corvette that was spotted needing a tow after experiencing mechanical issues over the weekend, we have another Florida-related sighting of the mid-engine C8 Corvette rolling down the highway.
The pics were shared on Facebook by enthusiasts and we were able to deduce they were taken somewhere in Southwest Florida, most likely as the car was making a trip around the Sunshine State as they did when testing the ZR1s.
The development engineers made much use of Florida’s highways as the warm weather was ideally suited for testing the engineering changes they made in keeping the ZR1s cool. The high wing Corvette ZR1s were spotted multiple times as they crossed the state on Alligator Alley, the stretch of Interstate 75 that runs from Naples to Ft. Lauderdale.
We believe this car to be the Coupe version of the mid-engine C8 Corvette. You can tell the difference between the Targa-topped coupe and the hardtop convertible based on the rear roof line. If the line is near the edge of the door, it’s the coupe. If it’s forward about three-four inches from the edge (near where the STOP sticker is), then it’s the hardtop convertible spider.
Spider…I can get used to saying that.
Some other key takeaways are the parking/proximity sensors along the rear. You can see the four individual holes in the camouflage along the rear where they appear. There has also been some debate about the inclusion of a rearview camera that would stream the video onto a screen embedded into a traditional rearview mirror frame. You can see what looks to be a camera in the center of the roofline just back under the camo.
This C8 Corvette is also riding on the black twisted fork wheels with the machined lip around the edge.
As far as the driver is concerned, the lyrics to the Eagles’ “Take it Easy” came to mind, but with a Corvette twist: “It’s a girl I bet in a C8 Vette slowin’ down to take a look at me!” Okay, we are slowing down to get a look at her…and by her I mean CAR! But you already knew that!

Melting Slicks
She seems very composed and relaxed...
like she can’t believe how smooth it drives for a 1000 horsepower all wheel drive flame throwing beast....
Just kidding,
Or maybe she can’t believe how smooth and docile it drives, while looking so cool, and she could still fit all her Prada bags in the trunk.
but you could bet every dollar ,some will keep saying that it’s a 200 000$ Super vette, that about 800 people a year are waiting to buy.

The new videos show some interesting new features on the rear end. You can see a dip between the two taillights, not a continuous line.

All that Florida hot weather testing of Z06s and ZR1's was conducted by Roush Industries in Naples, just off Collier Blvd & I-75. They were hiring local people part time to just go out and put miles on cars. They have run ads for drivers, mechanics, and engineers. I think the ME cars might be based there. In case of breakdowns their past route east across alligator alley is pretty desolate, going north toward Ft Meyers might be a better choice. More people there to spot the cars though.

I was about to say the same! I'd bet good money those squared protrusions are simply tacked on pieces to hide the true forms underneath. I followed the development of a foreign car a couple years ago, and was astounded when the camo and fake body forms were removed to show a car that looked hardly as I had envisioned while watching the camo'd cars for the past 24 months!
