I don’t think so. Since the C4, the Corvette has been the most practical sports car on the market. Its most practical attribute is its (relatively) massive amount of storage space. The C7 has 15 cubic feet of storage space, which triples that of most supercars. They could utilize that space between the buttresses for cargo storage, just like McLaren does. While most supercars have 3-5 cubic feet of storage space, the McLaren 720s has 12.7. Skip to 8:03 to check it out:
Unless the front-engine Corvette continues on for the C8 generation, the Mid-engine Corvette needs to utilize that area for maximum cargo space.

My suspicion stems from pics of the initial ME mules we saw using a Holden w what appeared to be a covered pickup box behind.

Early mechanical mule. Meaningless from a styling standpoint.

The 720S is a very impressive supercar (albeit being very expensive too) ... one of my favorites. And while its storage may not be exactly configured to hold golfclub bags, it does have an impressive capacity. Thanks for sharing.

History tells us that we should be hopeful if not confident that the ME Corvette C8 will meet/exceed the 720S' storage capacity.

The door setup on the 720 is genius, integrating the roof hatch so you can get in and out without ducking under the roof - great design.

Thank you very much Quinten33 for a very useful post, your giving us the exactly storage space on a 720 S,e.g., 12.7 cubic feet. That surpasses the C7 convertibles listed space of 10 cubic feet.

While it is agreed that it accessing the trunk in the C7 convertible is easier than accessing the space behind the McLaren S’s 7.4 cubic feet behind the seats, nice to know that the ME will have 27% greater total cargo storage space than a C7 convertible.

Maybe this is what Maximum Bob was referring to when he said that the Corvette ME has the storage space concern solved.

We many friends who travel thousands of mile road trips in their C7 convertibles, so question asked and answered as to whether one could do similarly in a ME — well at least so in a ME coupe.

It will be interesting to latter learn how many cubic feet of storage a Corvette ME HT convertible has.
