By calling the mid engine the c8 at first, it creates the surprise that the front engine will ever return as a new model, and help them sell off the remaining c7. Follow me?
They (GM) will REFER to it (the ME) as the "8th generation" Corvette in all probability, but the model designation will NOT be "C8". It won't have "C8" badges on it, the owners manual won't have "C8" on the cover or anywhere in the text, the ads won't call it a "C8"....it will be a "CORVETTE" (or maybe they will call it a "C8"...who knows). Argue all you want, insult all you want, bet all you want....doesn't change the FACT that C1/2/3/4/5/6/7 are NOT MODEL designations, they are something we (Corvette faithful) use to identify what model/year range of CORVETTES we are talking about. I have owned my Stingray over FOUR years and not ONCE has anyone come up and asked: "Is that a C7?" Plenty have asked: "Is that a Stingray?" or "Is that a Corvette?"
I don't understand why you don't get this and I ESPECIALLY don't understand why you feel the need to be so dam abusive.
The ONLY pushback YOU'VE gotten is when YOU go on the warpath.
This is like the guys that argue that "Z51" is a separate model.

While I agree with you....sort of.... but the way GM set up the order book in 2013 was you needed to pick which Stingray "model" at the very start of the order process....the base Stingray or Z51. The Z51 model was not an "option". The Z51 model started at a higher list price and you would add the options onto the Z51. Kind of like which model you start the order with....coupe or convertible. Previously, that was not the case as the Z51 was a option. I suppose there were so many difference parts, the factory needed the buyer to choose the Z51 first then add the particular options onto that. In the first year, the Mag ride shocks were only available on the Z51.

The base StingRay is a model, as is the Grand Sport, the Z06 and the ZR1.

If the Z51 is a model, then why is it also listed as a RPO on the Grand Sport? You can't have two different cars be the same "model", can you?

Hopefully this settles the discussion. Look at the auto brochures from these websites:
http://www.auto-brochures.com/chevrolet.html
http://www.corvetteblogger.com/2015/...ette-brochure/

If, for example, you look at the 2008 z06 you will see it is based off of the C6-R and if you look at a newer z06 you will see the C7-R option. Do you think that is a coincidence? They obviously use C6 and C7 designations to differentiate between 6th gen and 7th gen. I didn't look back at any C5 examples because this is dumb.

With the exception of Sub Driver, this thread just got horrible.

These guys are now playing stupid and pretending they dont understand that the chassis of all c7 are relatively the same, and the sub models work off that similar chassis.

I assume they are "playing". I hope they arent really this dumb.

How can we legally get them out of here? Im going to abandon this thread and tell a moderator to close it if they dont leave.

You are the dumb one. The ME will be referred to as the C8 and the next entirely new Vette will be a C9. These generations of Corvettes will not be referred with the 'C' nomenclature officially. IE: you won't see it on any GM official paperwork. The C designation came from a motor scribe.

So, there are 4 models of the C6 and 4 models of the C7....and the ONLY reference to the term "C6 or C7" is actually the RACECAR (with the addition of an "R") designation showing up on ONE model (the Z06).
NO ONE is arguing that Tadge and Tom and Harlan and whoever else in Team Corvette USE the term "C7", the point is that "C7" is NOT the model name. Nothing more, nothing less. I agree it's a stupid argument which the OP started by asking if the ME or some FE car Corvette (that may or may not happen) would be called the "C8". From a GM designation standpoint, NEITHER will be but the OP clearly loves arguing and betting and just refuses to grasp what is being said. I'm done.

"Worth your time"? That's rich. We are all here to serve you, master.
Listen, you joined in March 2018. You have abused and berated many long time members who clearly know more about Corvettes and clearly understand the English language better than you do. I wouldn't bet you a penny because you'll be banned soon enough because your ego is just WAY too big for a public forum. And I still think you're a former member who was banned multiple times for the EXACT same behavior you're exhibiting now.
Grow up. No one died and made you king.
I will grant your wish, however. I'm out because YOU and your stupid ***, rambling thread are not worth MY time.

We haven't seen any front-engine mules or any kind of lightly clad cammo testing of anything front-engine since the ZR1 development ended. I guess they could test new motors in stock uncovered C7s but you'd see a fleet rolling around with testing equipment at a minimum.

I have a Z51 C7. It's an option package on a Stingray (the model), but I can see why people disagree due to how GM setup the order configuration and build online tool.
