Manual a thing of the past?

It will change. It will take you much longer to find a person who is into cars. Tuning is a big market now, if it dwindles down to 1% of what it is I call that as good as gone. I had to sign petitions to help prevent governing bodies from outlawing aftermarket parts. It matters how many sigs you get.
It may lessen, but it will never die. Legal or not.

Not being argumentative, but do you feel that is the reason Boxster and Cayman are looked to, or at as competition to the Stingray in the eyes of potential buyers?

I was only pointing out that the Boxster/Cayman could be had with more than just 300 HP. There are many reasons people buy a Porsche instead of a Corvette besides horsepower. Porsche does seem to be able to achieve some amazing performance while having less horsepower than a Corvette.

At one point does something become so minuscule, it almost ceases to exist?
For 2018, only 2% of the vehicles sold in the U.S., came with a manual transmission. (This is down from 47% in 2006.)

The post I was originally referring to said they'd buy it if they put decent gears in it and sell it at a price that was reasonable. It's unknown whether the 982 GT4 will have the same long gearing people complained about on the 981, but it's pretty much guaranteed to be the about price of a base 911.

The question of which is the best is always decided by which makes the car faster in a race. In the old days automatics were always slower (except for special 'racing' transmissions) so the guys for whom 'Winning the race' was the only consideration chose manuals for the quicker shift times. Now, no 'clutch foot' can beat a paddle shift transmission in shift time so the guys for whom 'Winning the race' is the ONLY acceptable result are not going to accept being beat by that damn 'automatic slush-box paddle shifter' in the next lane. As long as the manufacturers provide the slower 'clutch foot cars' for the purists, you can have your cake if manual shifting is what you want, BUT, you can't 'EAT THE CAKE' too by always winning the race. The races will be decided by 'whoever' can control the car's traction problem the best, which was always the next thing a guy driving a powerful car had to do.
The M7 and the clutch foot beats the current A8 using the paddles which are 1 mississippi then they shift! The guys getting exhausted need to work once in a while!

Reports are that the tariffs are going to cause a price increase of about $12k per foreign made vehicle. No Porsches are built in the states.
The high priced, is about to become the absurdly priced it would seem.

all corvette fans and owners. WHY would Chevrolet make an automatic c8 only? All I can say is all the if you
look all over the USA. The still brand new 2017, 2018 and even 2019’s sitting on the lots are mostly automatics?? Why is this?? Maybe a question for Tag or the corvette plant. I have in all my years of new corvettes seen so many. We need these cars to NEVER go away!!! But all automatics. Maybe that is telling you something. Corvette is and will always be America’s sports cars. Are people and I would say mostly men my guess are turning Sissy and no longer want to shift those wonderful gears?
Who cares about the few seconds to shifting those gears. A car built for speed and I have had many new vettes but an automatic???? Just please look all over the US at the new cars still just sitting. Dealers order them but they are just there!!!
What is wrong with the dealerships ordering@ mostly automatics and why they are not sold?
I remember when the Z06 and the ZR1 were only 7 speeds. I had both and still have my Z06. We can’t have production to continue to go down because of stupid dealers.
I understand your simple stingrays or whatever but the Horsepower cars need to be shifted. Again never in my years, brand new 2017 and up still there?? Take those ugly chrome wheels off, I use to love, make them look as bad as they are and give them some carbon fiber everywhere including the hoods. Who decided to flip back to the chrome wheels, no hood stinger, just so much missing. I would not buy one of those cars even half price. Maybe some ladies like that and want a sweet simple pretty vette to drive even men but right now the dealers ordered unsold cars nobody wants!!!! Open your eyes fools!!
you can make any corvette beautiful And stand out even for the ladies but a
person that buys a new corvette want attention driving it, I sure do. All the
old new corvettes look the same. And you pay more for an automatic too. I need to be the
person that orders the corvettes for the dealers because whomever is doing it has made a lot of bad mistakes and why the cars are still there.

I think you're right about the automatics sitting on dealer lots unsold and the reasons that you cited. The Chrome wheels look really bad and I would never ever consider buying a Corvette without a manual transmission. It would be a sin to couple that beast of an engine to a dippy automatic transmission (even though they are faster on the drag strip).

What made corvette produce the C7 Z06 and C7 ZR1 with autos? Was it pressure from potential buyers? I'm guessing GM just wanted to give the public the option....I don't know, you see this advanced piece of machinery and you look inside and you see PRND......I'm not knocking the autos but like the previous post says you have this big horsepower motor which you can add even more power and its driven by an automatic tranny?

The day the manual dies is the day I buy a econ car.
I see no point in driving a "sports car" with an automatic.
I'd drive a manual ford ranger before an automatic vette. And if Chevy takes me manual from the vette or camaro I'll never buy a Chevy again.
