Here is what Autoline said about the C7 and C8

Hmmm, lots of bad info in here.
A front engine and a mid-engine on the same chassis......Wow, some have no idea how bad that car would look. Would completely screw up the rear section on the FE version and the front section on the ME version. Besides, GM cuts corners on some things with the Corvette, but the will NOT hamstring the new GM ICON with a chassis sorta designed for this, FE, and sorta designed for that, ME. JUST WON'T HAPPEN. GM engineering validation takes forever. There is NO front engine C8 coming. Possible they continue a C7 for a while, but I HIGHLY doubt that.
One C8 style coming: FE or ME. Guarantee it is ME with all the GM activity that is currently on display. GM's Bowling Green shutdown period should make the news in some form.

I don’t see how the reported dates are unrealistic. Teasers begin this fall, ME C8 is shown in January, C7 produced through summer 2019 with the switch over to the new ME C8 in late summer/fall 2019.
I do do not believe there will be a refreshed C7. They may produce each for a short time, but all the hype and demand will be on the ME C8.

Ferrari and Porsche both build several models, including SUVs. Why can't GM build more than one Corvette?

My typo. Sorry. Here is the exact language from the Dec. 11, 2017 GM memo to its dealers.

Depends - sometimes it is better to cut your losses if their projects for example show them selling a hell of a lot more cars with the new gen vs the aging c7

You could have a 2020 ZR1 run March 19 through August or September and be done. I believe it was originally said it would be a 2 year model run.

Sorry grcor, but that is not happening. Sorry for all of us who are looking forward to that car’s arrival.
That AutoForecast Solutions prediction is in conflict with a GM memo it sent to its dealers on December 11, 2017 which listed March, 2018 as the end of 2019 ZR1 production. For that point forward, it will take many months for first the Plant internal changes for producing the ME, then the very slow ramp up, then a one month quality control hold — all leading to many, many months of additional time between end of 2019 production and the release of the 2020 MY Corvette to dealers/customers.
So who should we believe, an auto forecasting company or the company who is making the Corvette.
Second, in American an OEM can not sell a model listed as a 2020 model prior longer than one year in advance, i.e., the first day GM could sell a 2020 Corvette would be January 1, 2019.
The first customer 2020 ME’s will not be arriving before next summer, and only then if there are no ME testing issues that GM wants to further work on, they could delay the ME deliveries beyond that. The best example of that recently, was the C7 ZR1, which was originally going to be the 2018, 65th Anniversary model, i.e., that model was delayed one model year, becoming a 2019, due to testing/development issues, that took a while to appropriately fix — properly delaying its sales until all was fully resolved.

Very little about the ZR1 is original to the model.
It is simply a track version of the Z06: bigger supercharger, better cooling, a big-*** rear wing and front splitter.

The ZR1 is in its first year of its two year run; we will see it next year as a 2020 model (though that does not mean it could not be further extended to include the 2021 model year).

The biggest confliction I see is one of economics. Why would, you, for example, buy a new C7 when new C8's are also being sold at almost the same sticker price (C7 Z06 vs base C8). Your new C7 will plummet in value compared to the new C8 the day after you buy it. Now, if the C7's are getting HUGE discounts to get them to sell it may make sense to a buyer...but GM loses money...why would they do that?

I don't know what will be more gratifying...........................
A. The reveal of the ME
B. Parsing through all these threads after and laughing at what turned out to be BS, Conjecture, Fact, and Myth
One thing is certain......................the months before the reveal are going to be fantastic! Enjoy the ride...............we don't get one's like this too often.
Side Note: There's nothing more gratifying (well very few things) than paying far less and beating more *** on the track than you imagined. I just want to know what the next guy in a Ferrari or Lambo is going to see when I pass him.

You are assuming pricing that isn't evident right now. The C7 product range may be limited in what they sell. It may be the only C7 being sold is the ZR1 or maybe they introduce a redesigned body that fits on the C7 frame and permits another variation of the C7 that we haven't seen yet such as a 4 seat Corvette that wouldn't be feasible with a rear mid engine car.

OTOH, the FE has a 65 year history with Corvette and loyal following. I am happy with my GS and would be happier with 500 hp, but I am definitely skeptical of the ME, especially since I am a manual trans guy. Are buyers really demanding a ME? I don't see it.

ok, so let's say i can't buy a newly produced front engine corvette after the zora comes out and i have to settle for something like this in whatever color i like.

How valuable is the Corvair today compared with Corvettes of the 1960s? Makes no sense to abandon the FE.

The Fiero failure was a marketing target demographic failure not an engineering failure. The hype created was for a sports car, the initial car they built was an economy commuter car. They put hand me down parts on it. The fact that it was rear mid-engine did not factor into it's failure. If they had put a quad four in it and an available V8 with the 1987 redesigned suspension, they could not have made enough.
