What is your threshold on cost?

I'd say my limit is ~$80K, based on what I want to spend on the car and readily available cash. (In other words, C7 Z06 money.) I also have either a Mercedes S or CLS sedan in the "buy" plan in the next couple years. No financing desired at this stage in my life.

I just signed up to comment after seeing the spy shots of the C8.R. I think it looks great and has me excited. Personally, I'd be willing to pay mid to high $100k range for a halo type car, but assume that GM will also have a more standard version priced in typical Corvette territory.
I have no issue paying for exotic cars, but my main residence is pretty far from any major city, which makes servicing them a PITA. If GM could pull off a true "exotic" type car it would really have my interest.

All I can think is that a likely super big turnoff is the dealer markup thatll make it bleh for me. I can walk into a Ferrari or Lamborghini dealer and its MSRP no haggle, no games, for a brand new one. If dealers play stupid games with that, it'd greatly dissuade me from snagging one and stay with a brand that produces a far smaller number.
FE: 65K starting,
ME: starting 115K.. Id figure a top of the line will close in on a starting Huracan.

When the C7 was introduced there were a handful of dealers who attempted to do a market adjustment and Iam sure there were Corvette guys who were willing to pay a few grand more so they could walk out that day with a car the dealership had in stock. Those dealer were the exception and not the rule.
I have a business partner who also owns a Chevrolet dealership. He has a handful of folk that put down a refundable deposit on the Zora.
He is more than happy to sell at MSRP. Very few GM products sell even at MSRP so when a Chevrolet dealership can sell as many C8 as they can get allocation for their very happy with MSRP and the opportunity to build a lasting relationship with the customer and the opportunity to have the future income from fixed ops.

$125,000-$135,000 would be my threshold. I did museum delivery on a 2015 C7 z51 7 Spd and loved it. However, wanting a change I bought a 2017 Carrera C2S with PDK and absolutely love it.......even more than the C7 due to being better in about every way. The C8 ME would be the only car to pull me away from a 911 at this point......but it needs to be done right and feel quality. I have never been a fanboy of any brand or make and never will be. But I do love cars and we live in great times with so many choices of really good cars!

There will be hundreds of Chevrolet dealership who will gladly sell you a new C8 Zora for MSRP.

For 60k it would be a Pontiac fiero, if this ME vette is truly trying to compete with the big boys it's going to need the equipment to do it , that's not cheap! I would say the starting price would be a few thousand over a ZR1. Plenty of guys spending 55k on pickup trucks, and the dodge demons sold just fine at around 100k + + +

Depends on if GM truly wants to be on par with other mid engine supercars? Engine is only one part. Vehicle weight , Interior, brakes, trans, suspension will play a big part.

At those prices that your suggestion ,the potential buyers would flock to the other name brands...All day long.
It would just make their purchase decision easier.

I agree with you on the price-if it has the 755hp engine and all the other ZR1 bells & whistles, but I don't think we will see this for a year or two. First production, 75 to 85k is more likely. As far as demons selling just fine at around 100k, if GM announces a one year only production of the ME it would sell a lot better than just fine.
