My take on it is that if it's your only vehicle and it suits your lifestyle so that you can drive it every day, a Vette could be purchased on way less annual income. It's when it becomes your back up car that you need a lot of frivilous money to justify the purchase.

I use to buy a new sportbike every 2 years of so, which was approximately equal to my annual income from the age of 18- 26. But it was my sole transportation/ entertainment at the time.

I have to drive a truck every every day now. My '18 Denali has more miles than my "08 Vette for instance. A 2 seat sports car just isn't practical for me.

My 2007 Coupe is my daily driver. I bought it to drive it. I have not regret it at all.
