Base ME should come in lower than $65K.

I like the 65K projection. Hard to increase the interior quality at the price point though. Would pay another 10K if they could get closer to Audi / Mercedes level for the interior materials and construction.

If I'm honest with myself, I will sell the C6 for low to mid 20s in the next 3-4 years and will write a check for a lightly used Z51 version of the C8 for around $55K. The other option is that I'm very much considering a kit car to get the Supercar levels of performance that I desire, within my budget.

I don't have the sort of wealth that allows me to write such a big check for a spare car of limited functionality. Now if I didn't own a trucking company, didn't ride MX, didn't MTB, didn't have kids, well I'd buy a C8 as a daily driver for around $80K and not even blink. But my lifestyle requires a pick up truck 98% of the time.

Agreed! I just bought a Porsche GT4 as a holdover for the C8 and it is an amazing driving experience! My first ME car and likely the very best driving car I've owned.

To answer the question, it would need to be sub $100K CDN base. Any higher and the depreciation just kills you... some cars hold their value REALLY well but Corvettes aren't one of them. Therefore, getting too expensive out the door is an issue.

The ZR1 starts at $130k. I suspect that the ME will start at $180k and upwards towards $240k for the full package.

I'm guessing NSX money....$150k or so. It certainly won't be $65k!

IMO, the max price is corralted with production numbers. If GM makes a special car and comes out and puts a cap on production totals and makes it very exclusive like some Porsche's and Ford GT then I think they can charge almost anything they want. If Ford didn't come out and say the GT will be ultra-exclusive and instead attempted to build 2-3K per year then there will be no chance they will able to command such a high price. Same with some Porsche's. People will pay for ultra-exclusive items.

I completely agree with the statement that driving a high performance mid engine is the best driving experience.

I have a 14 458 Italia and it is the most fun I have very had driving any car. Not as fast as my 2016 Callaway SC 757 but far more fun to drive.

I can't wait for the C8 with a world class DCT and a high rev duel overhead cam 5.5 liter monster mid engine Corvette . Add CHT to that and it will be a great car and sell like hot cakes.

I fully expect the ZR1 version of the C8 to start at 130k and going into the high 170k range. That 6k above today base C7 Zr1 Convertible .

I just hope that GM upgrades the interior and charge an extra 10k on the base model so that the top of line model won't be stuck with budget switch gear .

I know GM can upgrade the leather but today cara like my Callaway was 130k and has the same switch gear as the 2014 Z51 Tha I paid 75k for.

I hope GM spend the money to be on part with Porsche and Audi.

I know I don't expect Ferrari quality interior even on the top of line Vette but Porsche quality would be nice.

GM has to improve the interior if it truly wants to be world class in something other than just raw performance numbers.

The C6 generation MSRP ranged from approximately 52K to 120K. The C7 generation MSRP ranged from approximately 57K to 150K. I'm projecting the C8 generation MSRP with both FE and ME models to range from 65K to 180K with the ME Zora at the upper end of the price range.

Since the only offering C8 layout will be a mid engine, front engine is dead next year, the price point will be only a few percentage points higher than current C7s: model to model, option to option. GM will nail it down in typical Corvette fashion. Great performance, near great interior, little short cuts here and there, but super competitive price and hard to beat at triple the price.

Threshold? What threshold? Too late for me. I already got the license plate - it's on my Jeep SRT for the time being.

Depends on what I am getting:
-I'd pay an extra $10K to $20K for a mid engine car over the same car (HP, torque, features, build quality, etc) in a front engine configuration
-if it is 650HP/650Torque with same electronics and performance package as my Z07- I'd do $10K-$20K over my Z06, so $85K to $95K
-no change to interior/exterior design quality or material quality = no extra dollars. If they upgraded these, that would attract extra bucks

I know some guys will go crazy for the car (see C7 ZR1 pricing), and if Chevy limits production like the ZR1, it will be crazy pricing.
