And btw if I post an opinion, I'll say it's an opinion. The senior C8 design team is essentially the same one that did the C7. It's not a secret.
It's all on this forum somewhere.

EDIT: After seeing the spy pic on the left that elegant posted below at 5:58pm it does look like that door cove does not appear to change the door latching mechanisms from what is used on the C7. There even looks like the same C7 door gasket with the door cove also gasketed..

I am continually perplexed as to why some think the C8 will draft design pieces from the C7??? The C7 drafted basically NO design pieces of the body from the C6!!!, so why would the C8 draft from the C7? The spoiler won't come from the C7, the differential air cooling scoops won't come from the C7, .. the headlight cluster won't come from the C7 ... just sayin'

We remember the debate when the first picture came out exactly one year ago today, as to whether that was a fake or a real door scoop. All know now, it was/is for real.

I don’t think it’s as much of a wider rear end rather than a narrow midsection

Honored as I am to be corrected by the pimp, I'm only going to partially agree. If one imagines the plate bent up to 90 deg then it looks like the padding is about as thick as the lettering is tall. On my plate that's about 2 7/8". Now of course the plate could be recessed a little, normally, which would get us back to 2 1/2" padding.
Maybe 2 3/4"?

Excerpt and photos from CorvetteBlogger:
Several more sightings of the Mid-Engine Corvettes in Colorado confirms that an engineering team was camping out behind a Holiday Inn in the Frisco/Breckenridge area. We say camping as the only thing missing from this view of the team’s tent and heavy car covers is a campfire. Security is on guard 24/7 when the cars are parked in the lot and the yellow tape is a clear indication of the line that shall not be crossed!
Last week, two different CorvetteBlogger readers sent up their photos of the C8 Mid Engine Corvettes testing in Colorado. This first batch comes from Florida’s Village Vettes Corvette Club:
Last week a member of our club, the Village Vettes Corvette Club of The Villages, FL was traveling thru the mountains of Colorado, Frisco to be exact, and stumbled across the Corvette Mid-engine testing team. She said they were making runs up and back to Keystone, Vail, Aspen.

I am pretty sure I could make out there was a steering wheel in there.... maybe...…
A lot of air and extra skin on the door to form the cove. Will that make the door quite a bit heavier than a C7 door. Will the edges of the cove be very rigid or a bit flexible like a normal smooth curve door. The current car uses many polymers with different levels of flexibility, what will the door skin be now?

16 Vettes and counting…..
I sure like it without the spoiler. Thanks FVS for the great and most accurate rendering. Please forgive my crappy tampering with your work but I wanted to see what it might look like.
