^^. May be a version like that.
The only reason i added it like that is because pimp said it had one and said it was similar to the C7 z06 version,,, I think.

Honored as I am to be corrected by the pimp, I'm only going to partially agree. If one imagines the plate bent up to 90 deg then it looks like the padding is about as thick as the lettering is tall. On my plate that's about 2 7/8". Now of course the plate could be recessed a little, normally, which would get us back to 2 1/2" padding.
Maybe 2 3/4"?

Yes, but the rear diffuser/lower valance sticks out several inches all on its own past the rear fascia.
This spy shots demonstrates that perfectly. Give the rear padding is several inches thick, you can see how the rear diffuser/lower valance sits out on its own and the rear fascia is really not so thick and bulky as the camo suggests. If you undress this shot with our eyes, you can see the padding is at least 3 if not 4 inches thick

C7pimp, if you look at some of the other spy photos, you see that exposed diffuser's trailing edge seems to line up pretty well with what we can see of the camo'd rear fascia's trailing edge. Assuming the rear fascia is quite padded to make it extend out farther than it actually does, logically, if the padding were removed, that diffuser would stick out way past the end of the car.
So my question is... Is that diffuser a non-production piece, meaning it's really part of the camo -- its only purpose to make the bottom of the car visually match the upper fascia's padded portion to give the impression the car extends beyond the rear wheels further than it actually does? On other spy pics, I noticed that the exhaust tips don't actually extend as far as the center of the diffuser. Can you comment on whether that diffuser is actually what will appear on the production car?
Further, it seems like they could have better camouflaged that diffuser if they had really wanted to, implying they're intentionally bringing attention to it, maybe to complete the illusion that the rear fascia extends out further than it really does. Comments on this thought?

I only know as much as I've seen but I fully believe that rear diffuser will make it to production. See previous comment I made on it protruding.
The mating line of the rear fascia to the lower valance is NOT straight across. It's contoured like this (showing exhaust tips from the underside). This is the profile of the rear fascia where it meets the diffuser/lower valance. The lower valance does not line up line-on-line with this:

What's going on here? I see cammo wrap on the "outer" portion of the door/duct. Does this suggest the inlet scoop runs into the door? Will the door handle be hidden inside the scoop like a Ferrari testa rosa or F355?

That bump out is probibly to allow more room to house the V 12 variant ! ; )

how about the side view Pimp ?...
You can imagine the door latch overhang in this view as well.

INTAKE
Although I may be totally wrong it looks to me that what FVS has illustrated in red above showing the INTAKE starts NOT on the door but is actually almost completely on the rear quarter panel with only a small curve showing on the door. Why I feel this way? Why would GM create a INTAKE beginning on the door that has to be engineered to open and close thousands of times while maintaining a seal. With that a door, already big on the C7, would when opened extend what looks to be even 8-12” greater in a parking lane. KISS would suggest otherwise.
So take a look at these pictures that offer why FVS has got it right IMO. Even though the Camo ME shows otherwise, I now think it is a fake INTAKE on the door, or maybe even accommodates instrumentation to calibrate air flow and will soon be removed.
Even one picture shows a door gasket in the same position as with a C7 running from A to B.
