Will the more utilitarian Tesla’s still outrun the C8 ?
Just curious.
not a troll post, i just cant see how corvette will survive without major changes. AWD, electric, and lightweight !
Yea a gas car is the better track car, but probably 1% of c8’s are actually tracked.
I want the novelty of a fast car. Top speed in unrealistic. Acceleration is something i can play with every day....
I dont feel young buyers feel the same way about corvette as older buyers do.
please tell me how i am wrong in my thinking (i hope to be wrong)

Corvette will likely come out with an electric variant at some point. It needs to be in addition to the gas car though. I have zero interest in an electric sports car as a daily driver. GM will certainly have multiple electric options very soon.

16 Vettes and counting…..
I drove my buddy's Tesla S with Ludicrous power. The car is a hoot....very quick, quiet, and quite capable. I still prefer my (slower) Corvette.....I'm not sure the Tesla could hang with it on a track or a spirited drive...at least not for very long. However, if we didn't use my wife's luxo car for trips, I'd buy her a Tesla in heartbeat. Just not sure I want to deal with the charging thing on a trip.

I had the luxury of driving a company Tesla S, without a charger at home. Total anxiety about how and where to charge, queuing up at supercharger stations. etc. Yes, it was quick alright, but damn, what a PITA to worry about charging. At the end of my perk month, I bought a left over 2017 Z06 for 20K off! Fast as all hell, looks 1000% better, and fills up almost anywhere with no waiting. Cheaper than Tesla with similar power and I dont need $$$ charger at home. Interior space better in Tesla, but I dont need it as my Tundra handles the hauling. Oh yeah, and Im creating CO2 plant food.
The S is a nice car. No complaints as a non owner, but it didnt sell me.

How MANY times do we feel compelled to compare a sedan to a sportscar?
It's frickin' ridiculous...

Two very different cars. I actually prefer the tesla for daily use here in LA. The roads are terrible and the steep driveways and traffic is not much better. The Tesla feels much more effortless to drive and the handling is quite nice. I have blown away people on two lane on/off ramps. Small part car big, part driver but it is somewhat capable which is very surprising because it is one fat heavy bitch The best part is making a left out of a parking lot and crossing traffic. I can stab the throttle and the car goes where you point it and much quicker than the ZR1 without having to maintenance throttle. Now on the track or Sunday cruise it is the vette every time. After 30mph the vette is an animal compared to ludacris mode.
The two should really never be compared but both have the ability to make you smile.

No. Only the $140,000 Tesla will out run a Corvette from 0-60, and 0-60 is only one metric of a car's performance. The basic utilitarian Tesla can't run 0-60 under 4 seconds, which every model of the C7 can do.
Just as not every C7 will run 0-60 in 2.85 seconds, just because the C7 ZR1 can.
Not every Tesla is a P100D Ludicrous. I don't understand why people think EVERY Tesla can do the super quick 0-60 just because ONE version of the Tesla can. Does everyone think EVERY Corvette has the performance of the C7 ZR1?

I realize it's a serious post but I have to say, who cares? It's a 4 door sedan. Now, when a great looking, all-electric (or other fuel) sports car comes along and beats the other sports cars including the Corvette, then there will be troubles.
However, much as I'm not an all-electric car person, I do believe that everyone in GM is looking at this closely for the future because the future started in about '96 when the EV-1 was leased out and continues today with the Bolt. And that was 22 years ago and more. And I doubt if this is a back-burner concept since it's already implemented.

Take a Tesla to a HPDE and see how many laps you can get before it overheats...

While the thread starter has a good point, I really don't think the performance of the 'top end' Tesla will have any impact on anyone contemplating the purchase of a C8. I'm considering replacing our only 'back seat' car with the coming Porsche electric 4 door sedan next year. That has absolutely no impact on my decision to stand in line at a couple dealers waiting for my allocation to come up for a new C8.
And another thing..... I 'second' the comments above. Until I go deaf, the 'sound' is a major factor in my automobile purchase decisions. The best cure for the 'blues' is to go out into the garage and crank up the Ferrari or Aston Martin. The C7 holds its own in that department too..... Long live the gas burning V8's 10's and 12's!

Tesla's don't "outrun" Corvettes except in straight-line acceleration (as they do to almost any car). Straight-line acceleration is just one of many aspects of performance. Put both on the Nurburgring and see who gets spanked.

I would need some fake engine sounds with an electric sports car. Have to admit I like chicks with silicone *****, make up and that tell me I'm good looking...so I would probably be good with said electric sports car.
