Sounds like a Wankel to me....

I do not think it's a flat plane engine, doesn't sound like it revs high enough.

That will make the exhaust sound just like a FPC engine, from a normal V8 uneven pulses. Also the turbos will quiet the exhaust reducing muffler requirements and temperature. We will learn to love the sound. I want one. Jim
Turbos controlling the exhaust pulse is one thing I am not sure of. First of all I don't think it is possible. Even if it possible there is no practical reason for Chevrolet to implement it.

1 quart for 5k is not even close to being a concern. Although none of my cars have ever come close to that, even approaching 200k.

I think the short clip we heard on C8R is much closer to the 488.

Yes it sounds nothing like a V6. It sound lot like European V8. That is the reason I ended up believing it to be FPC as there is no other practical reason for the engine to sound like that.

Did say it was, but other owners were more like 1 quart every 1,500 miles or less which is a bit excessive.

I believe ferraris flat plane crank is 3.9liters in forced induction form is what we could see from the hot vee derived 4.0 twin turbo cadillac form.

i dont think we will see a flat plane crank twin turbo sized above 4.2 liters.

Voodoo is 101 bhp/liter. Not too shabby, especially since it's 15% bigger than the 458's mill. 🇺🇸

According to ZERV, who the forum tends to trust, GM is making a 5.4L V8 and a 4.6L V8 for the C8, and one displacement is likely to have a naturally aspirated variant alongside its turbocharged setup. Unless GM plans on making an engine with the Bore:Stroke ratio of a Ducati Panigale, There’s no way that they’re making a 4.6L or 5.4L FPC V8.
You forgot the Ferrari 458 (4.5 Litres) and the Ferrari 430 (4.3 litres)

FPCs weight considerably less than cross plane cranks and are stiffer at the same time; thus they can accelerate faster from lower rotational inertia.

Yes I realize that it is not official but the audio clip of the C8.R sound make it sound more like European V8 and only deduction for it can be inclusion of flat-plane crank instead of cross-plane.

Finally Chevrolet decides to drop in Flat-plane V8 in Corvette. Never thought they will drop it in so soon.

If you have a different explanation for the engine sounding like that. Please give us your input.

Hey moderator. The standard of the CF is the lowest in the industry because of posts like this.

Doesn't have to be FPC to sound very different from traditional V8. As mentioned above, could be significantly different header/exhaust configuration, could also be DOHC. Personally, I can't wait to see another 7000+ RPM DOHC motor in a Vette. I still think the original LT5 in the C4 ZR-1 is one of the best sounding Vette motors ever, and I love the high rpm power without the huge low end torque.

One of the best C4 ZR-1 sound clips ever:

Why does bhp/liter matter? Bhp/lb helps you go faster...

If that sounded different from all the V8s then yes I would have agreed with you. But it sounds like European V8(which sounds smooth and deep thanks to fpc). No matter how much you change the Exhaust and have DOHC it will not sound like that. Mustang has DOHC for long time but none sound like that even with aftermarket exhaust.
