What inspired the Cowl shape

I think the Cowl looks perfect....but everytime i look at it i cant see anything other than a Great white open Jaw.

My thoughts, A couple of years ago the Corvette design team were in the cafeteria eating lunch. On the cafeteria TV was Shark Week after a full week of lunches the rest is history.
