JoesC5: What do you feel is/are the reason then for the decline in sales of new Corvettes? Is it truly anticipation and waiting for the intro of the C8 or the ME?

Because we are all Vette guys and used to 8 years or more between generation it's normal to us.
But as good as the C7 is its no longer has that wow factor it did in year 1 , 2 , 3 .
I think that this is the reason for the decline in demand.
I think that 75% of the guys who bought a C7 will trade out and go to the C8.
Let's face it the C6 was selling at 12k unit in 2012 and 2013 as it was too long in the tooth. GM did a great job adding 2k unit in sales in 2013 with the 427 edition.
If not for that 2013 may not have sold 10k and not because it was not a great value or a great car it was just too old and too long of a run.
I think that exactly what we seeing with the C7 .
I personally think if the C8 midengine comes out with a modern V8 DOCH with 500 hp and DCT Trans priced 70k for a strip base GM won't be able to build them fast enough .
But as alwaysoon that's just my opinion.

Hey GM, how about taking a tip from Dodge, ie the Demon. They about 7 or 8 weeks before the reveal had you login to their special page to see small hints of the actual car. Was a huge success with I think over 500k people tuning in every week and satisfying the potential customer or just dreamers.....If we have to wait until January or later some might lose interest

Ford did that with the S550 Mustang too. Several automakers have done that and I think it was a very successful marketing campaign. It builds up the anticipation and hype a lot.

I hadn't read this thread until tonight. Here's a helpful thing to know...the ME reveal will NOT come like a thief in the night. GM will build it up starting several months out and we'll all know the big reveal date well in advance of the reveal.

My guess is that just like the C7 pre-reveal tease process detailed in the linked thread, that at some pretty soon event GM will both show us both a) the “emblem of the next generation Corvette” and b) announce the subseqent date and place of that reveal.
So next stop is our figuring when that first event will be — the one where we learn those next two reveal components.

I wasn't around CF during the pre-C7 days. Was it like this then? Speculation. Rumors. Guesses. Wishes. The OP said VERY SOON. To me, that means within 72hrs.

Lol, you and I brother, I hate when someone says soon and it’s no where near immediate, it usually means weeks, months. For me soon is within the coming hours.

LA in November or Detroit in January. GM will give us plenty of build up too, so if it's LA, we'll start seeing teases in the next few weeks.
