Interesting observation about rear
Has anyone else noticed the rear of the car? Particularly the area on the edge of the deck-lid? There appears to be a movable spoiler sitting on top with a small gap int he middle. I assume this would be something similar to that on the McLaren 720S. It appears that it's non functional on the C8 R but I'm sure it will be functional on the street car.

Yes! I had posted something similar. I believe we will see an active or adjustable spoiler that will give a similar effect as the 488 with its so called "Blown Spoiler" concept, but adds the raisable/active spoiler.

Anybody have some computer skillz to zoom in and clear up the rear spoiler area?

This is likely due to the "gap" seen from the paint booth rear bumper. Possibly active aero.

Not a spoiler. It's a wing. The screw type actuator locates the wing in a fore/low and aft/high position. The aft high position gives the highest downforce with more drag than the fore low position. Looks pretty dumb to me. How do you cover the slot required for this contraption? Screw actuation is slow. Stupid. This dumb idea has much more drag than the McLaren which in it's retracted position reduces drag significantly. The C7 (shown) wing aft, also increases the moment which moves center of lift aft which may be OK for a tail happy FE car but will cause push or a tight car. Another thing, the incidence changes with the fore and aft movement of the wing. Requires two electric motors. Dumb, dumb dumb.

If they have to do some sort of wing, I guess I would rather it be a movable surface that is flush when parked. At least the car will look good at the car shows. Maybe they can put a defeat switch on it, too, so I don't have to have to up at freeway speeds............Current ZR1 look really scares me in terms of what GM thinks is ok to put on the street........

Then where is the third break light?
While I think the blown spoiler concept would be really cool, I believe that is the cut out for the integrated third brake light. The only other location option for the US required third brake light would be along the rear-facing edge of the cross beam that connects the B pillars, above the rear hatch glass (or short window - depending on the model and final design). From a cost-perspective, integrating it into the top edge of the rear deck makes more sense. A folding spider soft or hard top would require the brake light on the rear deck so it was operational when the top was down - why would they spend money/increase cost to have a different version for the coupe?. Locating it in the cut-out shown on the top edge of the rear fascia shown in the paint shop photo aligns with the Corvette's history of locating it there (think C4 refresh, C5, C6, C7, where it's also integrated into the top area of the rear fascia, or, in later generations, in a small, integrated spoiler). I do believe we'll see active aero back there, just not in this "blown spoiler" location of the body as you've shown it.

^ You are likely correct. Not enough clear information about the rear deck treatment yet.Little by little…

I was just about the write something similar. I have absolutely no excitement for the ZR1 specifically due to the giant fixed wing and messy front-end, so I hope GM does not do a repeat performance of it. Active aero would be fantastic.

I take its our not very fond of the GT2RS or ACR ****?

Those are very nice cars...
But don’t be surprised ,many people like minimalist looks on there sports cars(including myself).
Its just a different presentation, when one parks the car on his driveway .
Depends what your looking for .
I think Sports car manufactures (Porsche and Corvette)know this, and offer wingless options.
